Watches NEWS
BEST FROM: watches-dealer & Friends July 31, 2015
Some watch enthusiasts love modern pieces while some of us love vintage, there's no right or wrong. But if you love shiny new things, this round-up features new watches from A. Lange & S?hne, IWC, Angelus, Tudor, and more. And as for a bonus, we even feature an over the top watch winder from LumiSidus, coated in 24k gold.Shiny new things aside, we also take a look at vintage watches, and we are turning our attention to a much overlooked brand, Breitling. We also take a look at which vintage piece watch journalists would buy if money were no object. Finally, we visit the workshop of independent watchmakers Gr?nefeld in Oldenzaal, Netherlands, to see how they make their unique watches.1. A. Lange & S?hne Zeitwerk Minute Repeater Watch Hands-OnEvery year, A. Lange & S?hne announces a new hero watch at SIHH. Pairs Well With: Bulova Commemorative Hack Watch
Well, it's finally almost sort of here, Summer, as marked by Memorial Day. This much loved and awaited for long weekend is not only an official holiday of remembrance, it's also the first time people light up their grills for the season (ok, if you've been following us on instagram, you know we started a couple of weeks ago). And if you happen to have a boss who believes in such things, Summer Fridays (which is the real start of Summer, right?)! Anyway, long story short, it's a long weekend when the weather is usually nice in which we encourage each other to drink cold beer and eat grilled meat. So, it's one of the best weekends.Of course, the holiday itself is a day to remember and give respect to those of the US Armed Forces who have fallen in combat. As such, we thought that this edition of PWW should focus around a watch that though a reissue well after that fact, has it's roots in actual US military history. The Bulova Commemorative Hack watch, which we reviewed some time ago, is
Another Vintage Omega, How'd I do?
The other day I broke one of my rules about never buying a watch on eBay. I have been looking at 1960s Seamasters, and came across one on eBay that I thought looked rather clean, but not too clean for a 40+ year old watch, and decided I would roll the dice and take a chance.Since there have been an increase in posts in this forum about vintage Omegas, I thought I'd post mine, and see what people have to say, especially since I bought it in a manner that I would typically avoid.I am curious if anyone sees anything I missed. It is listed as a 1967 Seamaster, 166.010.I got the watch today, but these photos are the seller's.
How would you improve the model 114300
What would make this ref 114300 a better watch ? For me a 41mm case and the removal of the colour dots . I realy would like a straight forward watch without any trimmings and this is so close .
Ticking
Although I have had my GMT II LN for almost a month it was only today that I thought to listen to the ticking sound it makes. The sound is a higher pitched, almost metallic sound compared to what other watch ticks I have ever heard before. Not at all loud, actually quite subtle, but very distinct. What does your watch sound like?
