What is Spin Time? Does it determine whose top wins? Is it from particle physics? Perhaps in some neighborhoods, but not here. Spin Time is an innovate new collection from Louis Vuitton featuring watches with no hour hands. Instead, each of the 12 hour positions is occupied by a rotating cube. At any given hour, eleven of the cubes show a blank face (actually they display a subtle letter “V”) while the cube in the current hour position displays the current hour numerically. The cubes have numbers on 2 sides, so they can display, for example, 1 or 13, 2 or 14, indicating a.m. or p.m. At 3 p.m. for example, the hour cube located at the 3 o’clock position will display the number 15, while the other 11 cubes are blank. The minutes are displayed as usual, via a minute hand. There is also a standard GMT hand, set by the crown at the 8 o’clock position. Affordable Vintage: 1970 Omega Seamaster Chronometer ref 166.010
The Omega Seamaster line of watches has a long and illustrious history. Beginning in 1948 with the dress/sport model CK2518, to the iconic professional CK2913 diver, through multiple other iterations of dress/sport and professional dive models up to the innumerable current offerings. I won't even attempt a complete history, as that's the stuff that coffee table books are made of. However, there is one scarcer model in particular that I am quite fond of, and it is that one that we'll discuss today: The 1970 Omega Seamaster Chronometer Officially Certified reference 166.010.Over the decades, Omega made several different dress/sport model variations that included the "Chronometer" designation with accompanying chronometer rated movement. Most of the 1950's through 1970's chronometers made by Omega were in the top end dress watch Constellation line, but they did deign to make some of their Seamasters with these higher end movements. The model discussed today is housed in the reference 166.

Report from the Patek exhibition
Please excuse a new thread on this topic - I was going to add my report to an existing thread, but I may need to post over a few days and it would have become too disjointed.Part 1I didn't really know what to expect from the Patek exhibition, but I have to say what a really excellent job Patek have done. The whole thing was very slick from start to finish. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed - I wasn't expecting as many people, so my advice is if you are going get there early.Also there is an iphone app available, so download before you go to get the best out of your visit.The exhibition is split into a number of different rooms and areas. After watching a short video the first stop is the Royal room containing timepieces owned by previous royalty.The two pocket watches in the photo belonged to Queen Victoria. This is one of the rooms where there is a lot of queuing to get in, with not much time to look at the exhibits.
