send watch to panerai for service or local?
So I'm in Chicago and wanted to get my Pam 392 serviced, there is a slight scuff on the bezel and the tiniest of chips on the crystal. Its been running just a tad slow since I got it and I just picked up another watch so figured I would get this serviced so its perfect. Question is should I send to Panerai? I heard they are pretty pricey and could take awhile. Or have a local watchmaker take a look (if I go this route he won't replace the crystal, would need to send it to panerai to get a authentic panerai crystal is what one guy said) also any recommendations for someone in Chicago to work on it?I'm thinking of selling it too so want it nice if I decide to go that route, is it even worth refinishing or selling as is? I'm the original owner and have the box and all paperwork so it should make it easier.

Is the small seconds hackable on p5000 mvmt?
Anybody know if this is possible? My 510 owner manual doesnt mention it and when setting it only the hr and minute hand are stopped.

Hi guys,Last enjoyed a PAM 164 sometime in 2007 and then a PAM 312 in 2011. Since then I have only had the AP SS Novelty and the Ceramic orange diver with a trusted Omega seamaster which is my daily beater.Owning a new Panerai was not something I had really planned for, however, when exchanging New year wishes with my Local AD we just discussed watches and I said I was thinking of getting a Panerai now but needed something special. I looked on the forums and decided the 587 was the best new Panerai out there.I told the AD of my interest and had them put me on their list. Had since forgotten and did not expect to hear back.Obviously was surprised when then called me saying a 587 had just come in and I had 1st preference over a decent waiting list. I would have had to confirm within 2 days however.Anyways to cut a long story short, I visited the boutique and after trying it on there was no turning back.
