HourTime Show Watch Podcast Episode 167: Should You Pay Attention To Watch Auctions?
What do you know! As different as John and I are, the last watches we each bought were the same. We are now (once again) Omega brothers, each rocking a Speedmaster Mk II. We discuss the interesting world of watch auctions and try to dispel some of the myth and magic that can get in the way of a good experience. We also discuss the rather odd Ralf Tech "Torpedo" and an Artya watch with real tobacco inside.Listen to the HourTime Watch Podcast episode 167 here. Direct MP3 download here.
The History Of Dive Watches
There are many things we take for granted when speaking about modern timepieces, and one of those is water resistance. There are no "water proof" watches, as that implies water would not be able to enter them under any circumstances, so we use the term "water resistant." The history of water resistant watches really began in the 1920s, but it was not until later that the serious water resistant diving watch came into existence. Today dive watches are the most popular type of sport watch, not necessarily because people use them to dive, but because of their style, promise of durability, and utilitarian value.Regardless of whether one pays a few hundred or several thousand dollars for a watch, they rightfully expect reliability, accuracy, and comfort. Having said that, we are rarely reminded of just how much time it took wristwatches to transform from fragile pieces of art into workhorse instruments that can put up with most of the challenges we expose them to during our daily lives. The internal instructure of Breitling's Avenger Seawolf
As soon as the internal pressure reaches approximately 3 bars, the valve automatically evacuates the helium is built during stays extended to depths and avoids thus case explodes. Given that the watch is enough High-Tech and apt for you especially if you spend most of your life under the water, his $3,520.00 price tag should not make you lose your breath.
Any other invitees to the London dinner on 27 May ?
I am the happy recipient of an invitation to the special guided tour and dinner being hosted by Thierry Stern at the Saatchi Gallery on the opening day of the London 175th Anniversary exhibition next week. I was wondering if any other TRF PP aficionados are going to be there and, if so, how we will all recognise one another ??
2017 Daytona diamond dial two tone
AD told me Rolex does not allow upgrade from my diamond dial to MOP diamond dial on my Daytona 116503. Anyone can enlighten me why consumers preferred to wait for stainless steel when two tone is readily available. Is it because of price wise.
