Tough and Transparent: Richard Mille Tourbillon RM 56-02 Sapphire
Richard Mille pioneered the use of an all-sapphire watch case with its RM 056 Sapphire Tourbillon Split Seconds Chronograph in 2011, and upped the technological ante with the subsequent debut of the RM 56-01, which also had baseplates, bridges and a third wheel made of sapphire. Last year saw the debut of another innovation, the Richard Mille Tourbillon RM 56-02 Sapphire, which combines a tripartite sapphire case with the brand’s revolutionary “cabled movement” design. The movement architecture used in the Richard Mille Tourbillon RM 56-02 Sapphire takes its cues from the movement in another Richard Mille watch, the RM 27-01 Rafael Nadal, developed with the input of the Spanish tennis star. The baseplate of the RM 56-02 movement is made of tough but lightweight titanium and suspended within the all-sapphire case by means of a single-braided cable only .35 mm thick. The movement uses a system of four pulleys on posts at its corners and another six pulleys along its peri
Sinn U200 B (EZM 8) Limited Edition Diver With Blue Dial
Sinn U200B on strapThere are two things about this watch that make it worth sharing. First off, the limited-edition galvanized matte blue dial. Normally sold in black, this version (ref EZM 8) is only available through December 31, 2013. Secondly, despite having a full 2000m (over a mile!) depth rating, the U200 is a svelte 37mm case.In what I think is a first for Sinn, it's sold with a matching blue and white NATO strap.Sinn U200B on NatoOne more of that combo:Sinn U200B on NatoNATOs aren't my favorite, but they're super popular and inexpensive, and an easy way to change your look. I do quite like that Sinn is getting a tiny bit bolder with color. This is a versatile and attractive look. The watch comes with both silicone and NATO along with tool to change them, and I can vouch that authorized dealers sell Sinn bracelets (around $400) if you want one.On the size, 37mm is usually labelled as "mid-size" for brands that make them, e.g. Omega Seamaster. Personally, I find that 37mm is an
Hands-On: With The Bremont ALT1-WT World Timer (Live Photos, Availability, & Pricing)
Bremont makes some really tough, very werable, everyday pieces.? The watches are incredibly well built, and as Ben told you in the FT a few months back, all of them will soon be built in a state of the art Bremont facility not in the Vallee de Joux, but in the United Kingdom.? See how the dial above says "London" at 6 o'clock and not "Swiss Made?"At Basel World this year, we got a chance to preview what could be a really hot seller for Bremont, the ALT1-WT World Timer.? This new watch combines the funcationality of a chronograph with an easy to use world-time function and UTC hand.? It is also nice to see the dial on this world-timer take a step up when compared to the less expensive Solo models and classic Martin-Baker line.? As is becoming the norm for Bremont, this watch is the commercial version of a watch originally produced for a military unit, in this case the C-17 Globemaster. 2 OF 2 Inside the outstanding Bremont Trip-Tick case is a modified ETA movement that Bre
Getting ready to join the family...
I have been collecting watches for years and have quite a varied collection with everything from a $400 Hamilton to my YG Rolex GMT. I appreciate fine horology and have had my eye on acquiring an AP for quite some time but for one reason or another, the timing just didn't work out but I think I am ready to pull the trigger soon. The sticky on what to look for when purchasing a preowned AP was very informative and I believe gives great advice. I didn't realize how expensive a routine service was so even if you think you are getting a good deal, one has to figure in $2500-3500 for a service if the watch is around 5 years old.I think I have narrowed down my choices to a Safari ROO, ROC with a brown dial or a Rubber Clad with a white dial.I have read that the bezels are scratch magnets and costs a pretty penny to refinish which makes the rubber class seem like a nice choice but the cream dial on a Safari with that tan leather strap is such a great looking combo! When I look at my collection
Thoughts on new Skyfall LE PO
What do people think of the new LE PO for Skyfall, I love the face but think the 007 at 7 o'clock marker spoils the look. Sorry no pics not to great with the whole picture thing but you can see it on the Omeaga website, and if someone can get the picture that would be great.
