The Wearables Arrive: The Scoop on All the New Smartwatches From Baselworld 2015
According to an old joke, Albert Einstein once said that he wanted to die in Switzerland, not elsewhere, because everything happens 20 years later there. This year, Baselworld proved Einstein wrong: the array of smartwatches on display proved the Swiss can be as up-to-date as anyone. Here's a rundown of some of the smartwatches that debuted, or whose upcoming debut was announced, at this year’s Baselworld watch fair (most, but not all, come from Swiss brands):? Sister brands Frdrique Constant and Alpina both showed analog watches that connect with apps on an Apple or Android phone, enabling the wearer to track his or her physical activity and sleep. The wearer can see data for sleep and activity in a subdial at 6 o'clock, and in more detail, on the phone. The watch, called the Horological Smartwatch, also alerts the wearer when he or she has been sitting too long and needs to get some exercise (more info here). At a press conference at the show, Peter Stas, CEO of the brands'
My design idea for the Royal Oak...
I have my eyes set on an AP 15400 or a 15202.Like everyone else, my only real concern is the wear and tear on thebracelet from a scratch perspective if I wear it often. My wedding ring is made of Tungsten Carbide and looks exactly like a a link from a Royal Oak (I was planning ahead) with chamfered edgesand a satin finish. Today, I had a thought flash: AP could make the Royal Oak bracelet fromTungsten Carbide!!!!!!!!!This material is virtually indestructible and looks like steel.

Was in NYC today near 5th. Did a fly by, then the sales guy busted these out, they'll be on tour at a boutique near you shortly. Never mind my small wrist, took the pics for you guys.
New (to me) pre moon Speedy back from service (Before and after shots included)
I posted this earlier on WUS, but wanted to share with my TRF friends as well...so please forgive any redundency:I got my 105.012-66 back from a full service and cosmetic clean up at MJ Watch Service near Chicago (.mjwatchservice). I am very pleased with the results and am giddy with vintage speedmaster delight. I got the bracelet done as well, but am really loving the watch on this Hirsch Professional strap. I was stunned at their ability to minimize the substantial ding on the non-crown side without leaving an odd divot or compromizing the case lines. I was also glad to see that cleaning the hands removed some debris that I actually assumed was broken down and lost lume paint. I had to sit down last night and watch the Blu-Ray of Apollo 13 that I got as a christmas present, just to bask in the moment. That movie really is a 2 hr Speedmaster commercial .Okay so enough chat...on to the pics!First a few before:And now the afters...I am wearing it now and imagine will be for some time:
Patek Rose Gold Tone
Greetings, gentlemenI am in the process of reorganizing my humble collection, moving pieces I don't really wear that much and adding ones I would love and wear few days at a time on a weekly basis. In doing so, I noticed that the tone of Rose Gold is different for different brands. I really like my patek's RG tone, but not the watch itself, which I'll be moving. I'll have to replace it with something else as I would love to still have a RG watch in rotation. so, the question is... Has anyone ever compile a tone comparison of RG? In your experience, is there any other brands/manufacturers has similar RG tone as Patek and/or how are they different in tone? (for example, compared to rolex/AP/JLC/etc.) If there is such a reference, it would make the decision for many collectors looking into Rose Gold watches easier. To start off, I know that the tone of Patek's RG is warmer than that of ALS', which is just a tad more red than Patek's YG. I don't have a pic to show as I already let go of my
