Sinn 142 St II GZ Watch With Tide Chart Bezel
Sinn was pretty quiet this year at Baselworld 2010. I walked into their booth proudly wearing a Sinn watch myself to find not a soul that spoke English. Really Sinn? Actually, I can't be too surprised, the competent watch maker is a ghost in the United States. With just one authorized dealer (only online), Sinn watches aren't exactly common 'round these parts. But that shouldn't be the case. 2010 didn't have any super exciting new Sinn models that herald in a new era of "superman watch," but there area few interesting pieces. One is the U200 - which is a 'big boy's watch" for smaller wrists. And then there is this unique Sinn 142 St II GZ. An obfuscatory and odd name for a pretty interesting watch. In addition to the Dubois Depraz Calibre 2070 (base ETA 2892-A2) automatic movement its chronograph, synced 24 hour hand, and date, the watch has the first "tide bezel" I've ever seen. The interesting function allows you to set the bezel, and then figure out the tides in a given area for that
Weekend Report: Watch (And Car) Spotting At The 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance
As we told you last month, there isn't a better place to be for a car or watch fan than Monterey Car Week. We've already shown you some of the cars we saw at the contemporary-focused Quail Motorsport Gathering, and now we're back to talk watches. OK fine, we'll show you some cars from the headlining Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, too. This is a good old-fashioned modem-burner, folks. Does anyone know if the grey dial is available in 37mm as a 15450 or is it only made for the 15400?Thanks
Rubber B glidelock vs Everest glidelock...especially for large wrists
On the fence between the two and could use help deciding for my sport model. Many members state the Everest is more comfortable but nearly all reviews only cover the tang buckle with little mention of glidelock clasps.I have zero interest in the tang buckle feedback please and only the rolex glidelock...especially for those of you with larger 7+ inch wrists.Daily comfort and durability are my two main criteria. Thanks for the help!
U.S. ADs selling pre-owned above MSRP
An AD that I visit has a small pre-owned section and happened to have a (essentially new) hard to find watch there sold at a mark-up consistent with grey market prices. This particular model was explained as a 2 week old trade in that still appeared to have the stickers on it. Now, I don’t blame them for selling the watch at prevailing market, but in theory, they could basically just put a friends name on the warranty card declare it used, and now sell at the higher price. Not sure if this something Rolex would have a problem with, but just curious how everyone else’s ADs are responding to these secondary market prices we’ve seen over the last year+?
