Jaquet Droz’s New Bird Repeater Geneva
The Jaquet Droz brand has made a name for itself by combining fine watchmaking and elaborate mechanical inventions. Now Jaquet Droz has turned its attentions to the capital city of watchmaking. With the new Bird Repeater Geneva, the brand has adapted its automaton-bearing minute repeater to include some of Geneva’s landmarks. On the Bird Repeater Geneva’s dial, timekeeping takes a backseat to grand effects. Most prominent on the dial are the bird automata, which are hand-painted and hand-crafted in gold. There are two fully grown goldfinches: the one on the left leans forward to feed its young, while the one on the right moves its head and extends and retracts its wings. In the gold nest between the birds, two hatchlings sit on either side of an egg. The egg cracks open, revealing another baby bird inside.?Meanwhile, the painted gold dial behind the birds displays recognizable symbols of Geneva. a Birthday surprise!
This past week I had the pleasure of re-visiting the place of my birth: Guam, in the Mariana Islands. My father lives in Japan, and to those in Japan it's an easier trip than say Hawai'i for warm weather (it's snowing in Japan today). He planned a two day father & son birthday trip, something we haven't done in many, many years. (it's been at least 13-14 years since I've seen this tiny little island).Anyways, the main point of the story is, for my birthday he surprised me with a Stainless Steel Diver. As obscure as this island is, they have a few watch boutiques, and AP is one of them (I believe it is operated under the wing of Audemars Piguet Japan, my warranty book lists Japan as the origin...the CEO of AP Japan was actually visiting the shop while I was browsing). My father had visited the island two months ago, and had them set it aside. I knew there was an AP boutique based on some recon I did before going and suggested we walk in, and to my surprise it was already waiting for
I haz a sad... and a practical question
Traveling in Europe with my aquanaut travel time and looked down this morning to see this: I didn't bang it on anything I can recall. I have one general and two specific questions: 1. Any of you experienced a similar issue and was it an easy fix? 2. I would assume water resistance is probably not affected with the loss of the button. Any opinions? Thanks in advance for feedback. I still love the watch and am totally bummed that I will have to give it up for a while to have it repaired. Hopefully since it's within the first year, warranty should give me some cover. Day after the blue moon...
Little over a week new and can't get enough of it...
So I am...
I֪ going to unload the 005 for something different. Don get me wrong I totally dig it but may go a different direction. Possibly the 000 or well I֪ not sure. Silly to do?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
