Seiko Prospex Spring Drive Tuna SBDB008 Watch
Seiko SBDB008The Prospex line of professional divers from Seiko has long been a rich source of fine watches and superb engineering, sadly less known than they deserve due to Japan-only sales. This one is worth questing for though, it's the new-for-2013 SBDB008, in the Prospex Marinemaster collection. Spring Drive (cal 5R65), DLC titanium shroud, titanium nitride (the gold colored bits) highlights, date window tucked in at 4:30, and a new handset. From the sheen, it looks like the bezel insert is ceramic, which would be a nice touch. I like this one, though it's tall at 16.2mm thick. Width not known, but we know that those are 22mm lugs so probably 44mm plus. 72 hour power reserve, and that movement is rated at +-15s/month.It's on page 41 of the Japanese-language Seiko 2013 catalog (PDF). From that, list price is 399,000JPY, or about $3,900USD as of today. Limited edition of only 300 pieces, on the bright side AZ Fine Time has announced they'll be getting these for US sale.A hat tip to

Roundup by Kenny YeoIn the fourth edition of our bi-weekly news roundup, we interview Hublot's Jean-Claude Biver; check out George Daniel's co-axial chronograph watch; examine the implications of the new Swiss Made ruling; learn about the finishing technique of beveling and more.1. Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean GMT Watches Hands-OnJust before Baselword 2013, we previewed the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean GoodPlanet GMT watch, which was a special edition watch which would offer a glimpse as to what the regular Planet Ocean GMT watches would look like. Now, however, we have pictures and a video of the rest of the Planet Ocean GMT lineup. Predictably, the new Planet Ocean GMT watches are handsome looking pieces and are built to very high specifications - water resistant to 600m and ceramic bezels with lacquered painted numerals for all models, except the one with the orange bezel, which is aluminum. As Ariel rightly puts it, these new watches are not a revolutionary addition, but as the ol
40th anniversary RO 15202.. Worth the wait over a 15300?
Hi all..Got a ROO Panda (which is unfortunately stuck in the service centre) recently, but it's arrival only made me lust for my next piece..Had originally set my sights on the new 40th anniversary RO Jumbo.. Unfortunately havent had a chance to experience it on the wrist, as I have been told by the boutique and ADs that stock will only arrive next year.. My lust for it has been based mainly on what guys like yourselves have been sayingNow I'm wondering what you guys feel, especially for those that have owned the piece as well as a 15300.. Do you think it's worth the significant price differential? Haven't had a change to try on a 15300 either as it has been discontinued, so can't really find out which piece sings to me more on the wrist..15202 will definitely take a much longer time in terms of saving up for it.. But definitely a nice preowned 15300 will not be easy to find as well, since it has been discontinued.I am aware of the differences eg power reserve, lack of second hand, the
Going for gold...
Hi allHope everyone is well. Next year I am planning on adding a Rose gold watch as I don't have any gold watches in my collection. Here are some photos of watches that I am considering. I am rather smitten with the 5119R at the moment (pic is of my wrist) Please do present other suggestions from any brand as long as it is Rose Gold and within similar budgets of the watches I am considering. I woke up early for this!!!???? But my AD said.....
quite disappointed to say the least in these latest offerings. Obviously the Pepsi is pretty cool, but I wont be adding. Also, here is yet again a lesson that our ADs don't know CRAP about what the Big Guys are going to do!! For example- The Hulk is going to be discontinued, as well as the Smurf, oh and the BLNR probably too, oh and the price increase is coming as well because my AD knows the head of sales in N America and he said so. WE are ALL on the outside looking in, I get Rolex gets a bit of a chuckle listening to some of these predictions...... My collection is SAFE! for now...
