F.P. Journe Tourbillon Souverain With Constant Force Escapement And Dead Seconds Available On James List
This is a hell of a F.P. Journe watch from about 2004-2005 and really resonates with me because it epitomizes what I like in the brand. Some of their other watches just feel like too little for too much, but this Tourbillon Souverain came out when the brand was smoking hot, and everyone was paying attention. An earlier F.P. Journe's Tourbillon Souverain was released before this model, but this watch added a lot to the timepiece and refined the looks of the face. Aside from looking cool, this timepiece has a ton of interesting things going on inside. For one thing, you have a very clean exhibition of the tourbillon on the dial instead of looking through to your wrist between sandwiches of sapphire crystal, you see the tourbillon escapement on a plate of gold with perlage polishing. Classy and sensible. Then you have the watch dial that is smaller and off centered and a subsidiary "dead seconds" (I will get to that in a bit). Don't miss the power reserve indicator as well. The full name o
What do you think of this particular Seamaster 300 ref. 165,024?
The particularity of this watch, as you can see from the photos, is to be equipped with the hands of the ref. 14755, have the bracelet 7912 - prod. 1 / 64 with the final 16, the caseback shows the ref. 165024-63 S.C., the movement is a Cal. 552 n. 20.308.XXX. In 2006 I wrote to Omega, which he said sent a bank archives showing the confirmation of the bracelet fitted, the production date of the clock: 23.3.1964 and the general indication of the dispatch of the in Italy. Regarding the types of hands I was told by e-mail from that statement is archived on this particular set of clocks were mounted various types of hands. By consulting various forums on the Internet and viewing hundreds of images of catalogs in every language, I found only two pictures of a catalog of 1964 Omega made only for Italy, on .segnatempo.it; .vetroplastica.it on and on .orologiepassioni.net
HELP - Panerai PAM 235 (white gold) vs. 497 (yellow gold)
Ok, so I'm going to buy one of these today....assume the 497 is slightly more expensive. Do I go the yellow gold and a bit more formal (is the dial too crowded, but it looks so nice!) or the white gold and a bit more simple...?I keep going back and forth.I can wear the 235 a bit more daily without it attracting too much attention (most won't know its gold) , but will I regret not sacking up and getting the yellow gold that will look incredible with a suit at events...Any advice? Anyone make this type of decision and have regrets?
Will Demand for the New Pepsi GMT Affect Demand for the Hulk?
Two different watches, certainly, but am curious about thoughts on whether the availability and hype of this newest model, with an improved movement, might affect the demand for the Hulk a bit. That would be overall, and possibly among those who may be on waiting lists for both watches. If they came in at the same time and you could only afford one at the moment, which would you pull the trigger on? Would you wait for the Pepsi if it was a later availability instead, (USA) and if you expected funds would not otherwise be there in full? Also, thoughts about whether production/availability of the present Hulk might open up a little more if Rolex is contemplating making movement changes and re-styling the Sub, for the next Basel or otherwise. My SS preferences at the moment are to acquire a Hulk and one of the new OP 39mms in white. Interested in getting opinions as to whether Hulk availability is going to continue totally as is, or perhaps may get a little better. Thanks.
Pawn Shop find
Every now and then I stop in at a pawn shop that is on my way home from work. I bought a Ref 1550 from there a couple months back that came with original bracelet, inner and outer box and booklets for $1000. Also found a ref. 1500 for $1200. Today though, I found this. Not much of a sports watch guy though. Nobody was there that could remove the bracelet for a look at the reference (although price tag says it's from 1987) or to crack the back. Looks like maybe the clasp is a bit messed up from he previous owner trying to adjust the length. I am considering trying to get this thing for a good price if I can.
