Cartier Sues Apple Over Infringing iPhone App
The Wall Street Journal Online is reporting that Cartier filed a lawsuit against Apple Inc. in Manhattan on Friday claiming that a third-party iPhone app available from Apple’s App Store infringed Cartier’s trademarked designs. The app, called Fake Watch, displayed well-known watch designs on the iPhone screen. Apple quickly removed the app from their store and issued an apology, and shortly thereafter a Cartier attorney announced that the lawsuit would be withdrawn, saying that Cartier’s concerns had been addressed.
Introducing: The Gr?nefeld 1941 Remontoire, Inspired By A Church Clock In The Gr?nefeld Family's Care For Two Generations
The Grönefeld Brothers hail from the town of Oldenzaal, in the Netherlands, close to the border with Germany; they're third-generation watchmakers who, after training and considerable professional experience in Switzerland, began making their own watches, under their own name, in 2008. Their first watch was a complicated minute repeater with tourbillon, but they're probably best known for their One Hertz wristwatch with deadbeat seconds, which was a big hit for the brothers in 2011. (HODINKEE covered the One Hertz when it was announced at Baselworld.) Has anyone tried on the newer 42mm SO?
I was in having a look at the Breitling offerings at an AD, it has been a while since my last visit. I looked at the SO 42mm and thought it looked real small, after putting it on, it looked even smaller. The oversized bezel with the large chapter ring makes that watch look very small. I wish they would get away from that type of design, I have 42mm watches that would dwarf that watch. Is there a functional reason for this? I'm unaware of any that would keep them making watches that have that small dial look to their timepieces.
Chronometer running 24/7?
Hello all-About to buy an Omega Speedmaster, and have some questions in regards to the chronometer (large looking second hand that can stay off or be pushed on). Can I let it run all the time? I was thinking I'd just let it run while awake, but then push it off when I go to sleep. It will be a co-axial movement. Any thoughts or concerns on the matter would be appreciated. Thank you!
