Swatch Group First Half Sales and Profits Jump to Record Levels
Swatch Group’s gross sales for the first half of 2010 exceeded SFr.3 billion for the first time ever, topping the 2008 record, and the future looks bright, thanks largely to China and Russia. The Group’s Chief Executive Nick Hayek told Reuters “We do not see what could keep us from achieving record sales and profit in 2010,” though he added that exchange rates and gold prices present continued risk. Net income rose 54.5% to SFr.465 million while operating profit rose 81.4% to SFr.626 million. Operating cash flow, at SFr.633 million, was SFr.386 million higher than in the prior-year period (SFr.247 million). Net cash and equivalents rose to SFr.1.33 billion, compared with SFr.1.1 billion at the end of 2009.Sales increased in the United States and in Europe, excluding Greece. “The U.S. will grow also in the second half, they have to catch up. Dutch watch maker Pellikaan Timing has just released a really sexy limited edition set of watches made for the Dutch Football team FC-Utrecht. I couldn't care less about soccer, but the design is pretty nifty. Loving that custom NATO strap done exclusively for Pellikaan with the red and white stripes down the middle.My guess is that the logo placed in the subsidiary seconds dial is that of the FT Utrecht football team. I still don't know why teams are called clubs in Europe? That always confuses me. Or is that only with soccer? The watches are in steel and 45mm wide. Inside is a manually wound Swiss ETA movement. Hey everyone, I have been on the hunt looking for the Ceramic Daytona and like many others getting one soon (at msrp) is tough. So I have been looking at other chronograph watches and have really fallen for the Audemars Piguet 41mm SS. Just got back from Vegas and tried the AP on and it is nice. Have not bought another high end watch except Rolex and would like some advise. I know many of you have multi brand collections. The price I was given was a good out the door with two extra links, 5 year warranty. I think msrp was around $24,600. That's a big price for SS watch! Would you guys do boutique or trusted seller?
