Three On Three: Comparing In-House, Manually-Wound Dress Watches Under $20,000
Welcome to Three On Three. It's one thing for us to give you an in-depth look at a single watch, to wear it and review it, on its own. But there are always options out there. With Three On Three we select a category, choose three watches that represent competitive takes on a theme, and compare them head-to-head. To kick things off, we went with a basic in any man's watch wardrobe, the manually-wound dress watch. Of course we had to get a little more selective, so we've picked three that all feature in-house movements for under $20,000: A. Lange & Söhne's Saxonia in pink gold, F.P. Journe's Chronomètre Bleu, and Vacheron Constantin's Patrimony Traditionnelle Small Seconds in pink gold. All three are seriously impressive entry points into true high-end watchmaking and here Benjamin Clymer, Stephen Pulvirent, and Paul Boutros dissect them side-by-side. 1 OF 52 Let's start with the set-up. For someone looking to get into real in-hou
AP - King of UK Sports
On comedy sports show League of their Own last week we had two titans of UK and world sport wearing APs. Anthony Joshua, the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world and best thing to happen to the Heavies in 20 years, was wearing a QE II ROO, and Sir Mo Farrah, the 5 and 10 thousand metre double double Olympic Champion and our greatest ever athlete, was wearing a gold RO.AP are indeed in a league of their own.
15400 date wheel
I happened to change the date on my 15400 this morning at around 9:00 AM because I was a day behind. As I was winding, the gears seemed to be tight and it didn't appear that the date was changing properly. Is there a specific time that you can not adjust the date with on this movement?
Collection Construction
I'm considering purchasing a ROO 44mm to add to the rose gold equation of time I just purchased and am having trouble deciding between the RG and the Plat. The RG sings a bit more to me on my wrist, but obviously it's a bit duplicative of the EoT. When all you handsome gentleman are assembling your collections, do you just go for your favorite watch in a vaccuum, or try to add some variety to avoid replicating the same general look throughout?
Breitling SUPEROCEAN HERITAGE 46
So, first off, let me apologize. I apparently do not have the gift of watch photography like many of our members here do. This is why I always appreciate the beautiful photographs that people take here. But at any rate, I figured I'd have to take some pictures of the new addition to my collection (thanks Greg!). It's my first Breitling, and I really had no intentions of buying one. But once I received it, I totally fell in love with it. I don't have pics of the packaging up, but I personally found that the packaging is a huge improvement over what you get from Rolex, and the watch is far less expensive. This watch retails less than what my Rolex did 5 years ago. The other thing that I love about this watch is the way it has a clean dial, and looks very much like the Rolex Sub and Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. It's 46mm, but definitely doesn't feel overly large. So here are just a couple pics of my new Breitling (I may actually be a convert now, time will tell).Again, these pics don't do the
