Turning The Crystal Upside Down: Clever Method Of Placing A Magnifier Lens
It was probably Rolex that pioneered the use of a magnification lens on a watch's crystal over the date to enhance the wearer's ability to see the date. They were most likely to first to use this technique although it is unclear whether they invented the concept. Since Rolex starting using magnifier lenses, it has been a controversial watch feature. While most people don't need the magnification lens (sometimes called a "cyclops") to read the date, it is a nice addition to have when you want to know the date at a glance. And for some people, the date is just too small to be read without squinting.Rolex put the magnifier lens on the Submariner (not Sea Dweller model) watches and the Datejust models (among other Rolex watch models). The placement of the date and magnifier was specifically chosen where it is, because if wearing a watch on your left hand, it was the first part of the watch that emerged from your sleeve, allowing quick reference to the date. Virtually all the Rolex clone mo
Audemars Piguet ROO Black themes
I'm in the process of looking for a slightly pre owned 44mm Audemars Piguet ROO Black Themes. I would like to find a watch that is fairly new. Are there any changes from 2008-present? I am having trouble with the reference numbers. Any help would be appreciated. Looking to stay in the 14-20k range.
Looking for Vintage...
Hello forum friends -I'm hoping to get your suggestions as I search for a vintage dress timepiece.I'm looking for a leather band timepiece with a simple face, preferably with little-to-no complication; time-only is great, but time-with-date is okay. A moon phase may be nice, as well, but I'm not tied to it.Here's where it gets a bit complicated. I'm looking for something that's 38mm or larger, and something that's under $10,000, preferably under $7,000.I love vintage AP's, but I'm open to Vacheron and Patek, though I suspect the budget won't hold for those brands.Any thoughts? Many thanks for your consideration and help!Pete
Unveiling of Basel 2017 models in PP Boutique (Singapore)
Long story short, I received a call from the PP Boutique in the ION Orchard Mall (Singapore) on the availability of the Nautilus 5711/1A-011 (White Dial) last week on the 27 April 2017. While I was confirming the purchase of the watch over the phone, the sales agent handling my purchase informed me of an event that will be happening in the evening and asked me to come early to settle the payment. Intrigued about the event, I further asked her what was the event all about and whether I am now eligible to join the event. She replied that it will be the unveiling of the Basel 2017 models and there will be some VIPs from PP Singapore Office that will be there during the event. I was excited enough and couldn't believe my luck of: (1) getting the call for the coveted Nautilus 5711; (2) meeting up with the PP representatives in Singapore; (3) being one of the first to preview the PP Basel 2017 collection and all these happen in just 1 day! Needless to say, I asked the sales agent to reserve
Im VERY lucky with my AD
My AD operates in seasonal holiday resorts....one in the summer and another in the winter. As a result the vast majority of his sales are to tourists/passing trade. He of course has regular customers (like myself), but it is very different to a normal city AD.I have known the guy for five years now, in which time I have bought four watches from him (all SS). Whilst two of those watches were eventually sold, he knows I’m not buying to flip.I went to see him on Tuesday (knowing that he had just returned from Basel). I’m now first on his list for both the new SS BLRO and the RG TT GMT. And I absolutely believe him. Before leaving I happened to mention that my nephew is on the hunt for a BLNR. I got the call this morning to come and collect the watch. Three days ain’t bad!Moral of the story....befriend an AD somewhere seasonal.By the way...the BLNR has all its stickers on!
