Zenith Academy Georges Favre-Jacot Celebrates the Brand’s 150th Anniversary
In 1865, 22-year-old Georges Favre-Jacot founded his watch manufacture in Le Locle, giving birth to the watch brand we know today as Zenith. To mark Zenith's 150th anniversary in 2014, the brand launched the Academy Georges Favre-Jacot, a limited-edition timepiece featuring a rare and ancient complication.A special occasion deserves a special timepiece, and Zenith delivers. The Zenith Academy Georges Favre-Jacot houses a very special interpretation of the brand's famous high-frequency, hand-wound El Primero movement. The opening in the upper dial reveals a fuse and chain transmission, with the barrel between 10 and 11 o'clock and the fuse and chain located between 1 and 2 o'clock. The opening in the Zenith Academy Georges Favre-Jacot dial reveals the fuse and chain mechanism. This mechanism alleviates the loss of balance wheel amplitude that results as the mainspring winds down, which reduces the force produced by the barrel. Pre-Basel: New Maurice Lacroix Pontos Chronographe
Maurice Lacroix has started releasing information about their upcoming Baselworld 2013 collection. They will be debuting two watches each week leading up to the start of BaselWorld. This week kicks off with two new models within their very successful Pontos range of elegant but sporty automatic chronographs. The Pontos is arguably Maurice Lacroix's most recognizable model, and rightfully so, as they have managed to design a watch that looks distinctive without being especially boisterous or ostentatious. The new models, ref 6188 and 6288, are both powered by the Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph movement which has been adjusted to three positions and features cotes de geneve decoration. The 7750 allows for sub seconds, a thirty minute register, and a 12 hour register with the chronograph seconds being displayed centrally. With 43mm stainless steel cases, these new Pontos' are nicely sized and are equipped with an anti-reflective front sapphire crystal as well as a sapphire display case

Debating Nautilus vs Aquanaut As Daily
I have a Nautilus and wear it nearly every day. It's a discontinued Comet 3710ImageUploadedByTapatalk1364703810.550203.jpgThere is so much love for the 5167 Aquanaut on the forum. I've been wondering...Is the Aquanaut better suited as a daily wearer than a (my) Nautilus? It seems more tool-like and less elegant than the Nautilus, and I don't mean this in a bad way. Quite the opposite when considering a daily wearer!Has anyone gone from a Nautilus as a daily timepiece to an Aquanaut, and not regretted it?BTW, I'm still saving for my 5980 grail, and just realized I'm closer than I thought. I remembered I have a collectible fountain pen I can sell! But that's a story for another time (and forum!)Thanks in advance for sharing your opinions...
