Review: Techne GosHawk (Ref. 411)
Previously on worn&wound we've discussed those watches or watch brands that manage to achieve superb design and quality in a surprisingly / unbelievably affordable price point.? Think Steinhart with their $400, ETA powered pieces, or the $200 Maratac Pilot with a quality automatic and sapphire crystal the size of your head. ?Having spent some time with the $338?Techn GosHawk (and previously Sparrowhawk) I am beginning to think that Techn deserves a place in that conversation.?The GosHawk pairs unique aviator styling and excellent craftsmanship with a quality Japanese automatic movement and superior components.Case: Bead Blasted Stainless SteelMovement: Miyota 8217 AutomaticDial: BlackLume: C3Lens: Sapphire with AR coatingStrap: “Saddle” Oiled LeatherWater Res.: 50mDimensions: 41.4mm x 48.7mmThickness: 12.5mmLug Width: 20mmCrown: Screw downWarranty: 1 YearCaseThe case of the GosHawk is simple and clean, matching an aesthetic seen throughout the watch. 3126 Movement issues
I finally purchased my first AP a 26400so 44 steel/ceramic about 2 weeks ago and almost instantly noticed my chrono was stopping and the watch had power reserve issues. Being the watch was BNIB, it's a bit irritating to have to send it off to AP Clearwater for repair and wait a few weeks. AP told me the chrono module had an issue and was causing the issues. My question is why are these 3126 movements having issues on new watches? I've read a post recently with a member who had a similar issue on the new 44 RG. Has AP upgraded anything to prevent this issue? Im told a master watchmaker is going to repair the chrono module vs replace due to backorder of parts. Hopefully it comes back fully functional so I can enjoy my first AP!
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet,
but AP is slashing dealer discounts by 5% for all SS RO's and ROO's as of January 1st, 2014. So, if there is a model you're after, I wouldn't recommend waiting.
for first Patek, 5205 or 5146?
Well, i have few rolexes and now im interested with Patek.(yes it happens!) but of course i have do savings first...I look around and compare the specification etc, i come up with 2 models which sings to me and both are annual calendar (the most 'affordable complications...Which will you suggest for me for my 1 st ? Whether it is 5205 or 5146 Slate?
Insurance claim paid , what to buy ?
I’ve just got off the phone from my insurance company and they have told me that they’ll give me a ?14000 voucher to spend in Golsmiths , Mappin and Webb or Watches of Switzerland .I was burgled a couple of months ago and had an old DateJust stolen and an Omega Speedmaster 57.I’m happy with the insurance companies replacement valuation and to be fair it’s not the end of the world having to use their preferred supplier .I just think that I have used my local AD for a few years now and I’m oretty sure he’d be able to get hold of a lot better selection then the stores I have vouchers for.I still have no idea what I should buy for ?14000 too , I already have the Hulk , Batman , Black GMTc , 2 DateJust 41s , the new steel Yachtmaster and a rose gold Daytona. So any suggestions what I should get for that price ?
