Cadillac Points To Luxury Watches Industry As Inspiration For 2013 XTS Car Design
[youtube youtubewatches-dealer/watch?v=RxrKyRarm4s]Much ink has been spilled when it comes to comparing wristwatches and cars, and it's an analogy I myself have drawn in articles. Most times, though, that comparison has been in one direction. ??A video we found from Cadillac shows us the comparison can actually be a two-way street. The video is really a PR bit for the design influences for Cadillac's new XTS model. While they call out other industries, it was very intriguing to hear them deliberately reference the watch industry - specifically, the luxury end of the market. Frankly, it's not a big leap to make, in either direction. Though it is interesting because historically (and still today) the watch industry very much borrows from automotive design when dreaming up new models. It is interesting to hear how the automotive industry is now in turn, looking to the watch industry. When it comes to a high-end car, we look for many of the same things we expect from a high-end watch. Patek Philippe "Geneva Boutique" Rue de Rhone Classic Calatrava Ref. 5565 Limited Edition Mens Watch Available
In virtually all the watch auctions I see, Patek Philippe watches are of the most common "high yield" lots. It amazes me that even Patek Philippe watches that are just a few years old auction for more than the retail price. This is certainly not the case with most watches, but it can safely be said that Patek Philippe watches are 'investment grade.' To a degree it is difficult to determine which watches will be worth the most. This depends on many factors, but the good news is that virtually all limited edition Patek Philippe watches DO retain value very well. Here is a very nice classically styled Calatrava homage watch, the Ref. 5565. The watch was released as a limited edition of 300 in 2006 in celebration of the newly opened boutique (at the time) in Geneva on Rue de Rhone. On the rear of the stainless steel watch is a delicate engraving of the building with the commemorative description;?? "1839 - 1892 - 2006." A lot of history right there. Inside the watch is a manually-wound Pate
Leather strap for ROC
Curious if anyone knows how wide the selection of OEM leather straps would be for a 39mm ROC (model 25860)? I'm looking to swap the bracelet out for a leather strap but would prefer something different than just brown, black, or bight blue which is all I've ever really seen in photos. I have a small wrist (6.3) and find the clasp sits too far to the side when sized properly even though the case and lugs fit my wrist size/shape pretty well. I've seen the threads highlighting the other parts needed which is very helpful. Any insights from buying leather straps for 39mm royal oaks appreciated.
Breitling Patina
Hey,My cousin just gave me a few watches of his to sell. I noticed that one of the Breitlings is not that old (has Sapphire Crystal) has patina on the dial, hands and numbers. It looks pretty cool, is this a desirable trait or does this mean there is something wrong with the watch that I should be disclosing (or do watertight cases age this way?)? The watch sets and runs well and the case was never opened. Some Macro shots
Next Watch after Datejust II
I'm curious, for those with more than one Rolex, what the next watch after my Datejust II should be considered? I'm active and like the outdoors and sports. Seems there are 3-4 models that would fit the bill. What say ye?
