Patek Philippe Caliber 89 Brings Over $5 Million at Auction
A Patek Philippe Caliber 89 sold for $5,042,000 (SFr.5,120,000) at Antiquorum’s 35th Anniversary sale held November 14 and 15 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Geneva. The selling price exceeded the pre-sale estimate of 4.5 to 5 million Swiss francs. Patek created 4 examples of the Caliber 89 in 1989 to mark the company’s 150th anniversary. This example is in yellow gold.Other top sellers included a platinum Patek Ref. 3990 perpetual calendar chronograph with moon phase and diamond bezel that brought $316,000, a 1952 Rolex Ref. 6100 “Caravelle” with cloisonne dial sold for $283,000, a 1954 Patek Ref. 2481 with tropics cloisonne dial realized $230,000, and a Patek Ref. 5012 Celestial wristwatch brought $225,000.Patek Philippe Caliber 89Patek Philippe Ref. 3990Rolex Ref. 6100Patek Philippe Ref. 2481
Features of Peter Tanisman Carrousel Fantasia Watch
Itself (not sure of the size), the case is in 18 k white gold covered 161 diamonds (10.86 carats). There are dozens of emeralds, Ruby and sapphires around in it. Inside of the watch is probably a Switzerland quartz movement with the Crown on the back. The strap is reptile red with a gold 18 k strap (which has more diamonds on it).
WINNERS of Mr. H's 2012 Audemars Piguet Photo Contest
The winners are finally here!!! As mentioned by Ken on my other thread there are really no losers as everyone did a fantastic job with their photos. I can only wish I had more watch related stuff to giveaway to everyone that entered this year's contest. It was definitely a tough decision!!! A last minute decision was made and I have added a fourth place winner.I would like to thank our moderator Mailman (Paul) and our photo expert and friend Jocke for their help. I wish Dalip or Ken would've also been able to assist, however, Dalip is super busy right now and Ken was an incumbent. Drum roll, the winners are:1st Place goes to Peppers901st Runner Up: orangedial2nd Runner Up: kilyungFourth Place: Steelerfan65Winners please PM me the address where you would like for me to send you the prizes. DSSD Being Discontinued: Prices & Demand
Numerous sources from Europe (ADs) typically reply (to requests for availability of the JC DSSD) that orders/deliveries for DSSD are now closed and that the DSSD is being discontinued (i am thus guessing that had this been true the DSSD discontinuation is taking effect after Basel this year as the DSSD is still on the main website of Rolex). I was wondering and that is the point of this thread:How will the prices and demand of DSSD and DSSD JC be affected had this info been true? What say you?
Rolex Submariner (116610LN) Sound When Shaking?
Hey guys,Just got my new Rolex Submariner Ceramic! Looks beautiful. Not sure if this is an issue but, I noticed that when I shook the watch there is a sound like there is something loose inside. Like a screw shaking around. I put the crown in 3rd position to adjust the time to make sure I wasn't confusing it with the ticking sound. Is there something wrong with this Sub-C or is this something common with all Subs? First watch so any input would be greatly appreciated!Kevin
