Auction Watch: Antiquorum's ONLY WATCH 2011 Is Almost Here
The following timepiece auction analysis post is by Chris Meisenzahl. He is a long-time watch enthusiast and daily Speedmaster Pro wearer. He blogs at The Pretense of Knowledge and can be followed on Twitter at twitterwatches-dealer/speedmaster.It's just about that time again, for the 2011 Only Watch Auction. The auction, managed by Antiquorum, bills itself as: "40 Of The World's Greatest Watchmakers Together For Research On Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy." When they say " World's Greatest Watchmakers" that's not just hyperbole (as is too often present in the superlative watch industry). This is the real-deal. The Only Watch Auction really is a who's who of the finest brands (e.g. Audemars Piguet, De Bethune, Glashütte Original, MB&F, Patek Philippe, and many more). The auction and the timepieces are too involved to run every year, so the charity event is held every other year, dating back to 2005. Frankly, some of these pieces are so amazing it's impressive that it can be pulled-off

DSOTM For Sweaty People?
Hey Omega Crew,I have loved the DSOTM ever since it was introduced a few years ago, and only grew to love it even more every time I've tried it on. I really want to add it to my collection, but I have one misgiving - the strap.I love the cordura strap, but I typically only wear steel bracelets because I tend to get sweaty in the summer time and I don't want to ruin leather straps. My question is this: I know the cordura strap is lined with a thin layer of leather. Does it hold up after a couple years of wearing it during hot summers? Thanks for your input!

5205G or 5726 on strap?
Hey GuysI'm looking to get my first Patek at years end and I am having a hard time deciding what to go for.I know I want the piece to have some complication and I don't have an annual calendar so I have narrowed it down to these two pieces. Nautilus 5712 was also in the running but I feel it's a love/hate relationship that might bother me later on. Couple questions:Is the 5205g casual enough for jeans and polo shirts? (my typical office attire)How do you feel about the tang buckle as opposed to nautilus deployment?I know neither model is collectable but which do you feel will hold it's value better? Which would be an easier flip if I ever wanted to move it?(I normally buy to keep)Aesthetically which do you prefer?Does the 5205 gold trump steel?Regards Tom
