Review: Seiko 5 SNK803K2 Military Beige
I first became aware of the Seiko 5 series while aimlessly meandering the watch pages of Amazon. At the time, I was happy to have found some humorously cheap Timex's to buy and fool around withI guess I was just having one of those "I need to buy something" moments. Regardless, when I came across a set of very nicely styled military automatics, made by Seiko, that cost just under $100 dollars, I knew I stumbled upon something great. Fast-forward a week, I received my Seiko 5, unboxed it and was immediately pleased with what I saw.Case: Sandblasted Stainless SteelMovement: Seiko 7S26B 21 Jewel Automatic with Day/dateDial: Beige w/ Black Markers and Luminous DotsLens: HardlexCase Back: Display BackStrap: Beige Double Layered Nylon w/ Steel BuckleWater Res.: 10atm (100m/300f)Diameter: 37 mmThickness: 11mmLug Width: 18mmWarranty: Store SpecificIn true military watch style, the design of the Seiko 5 is very purposeful.? seal greasing
[Apols if there's a better place I should be asking this?]If I take the back of my 2254.50, or any watch with a claimed high water resistance, should I be greasing (or even replacing) the seal when I refit the case-back?Or would this be done only when changing the seals at a service?thanks much...
New stainless steel 5960 to be unveiled next week
This was posted on instagram earlier today.Seems credible but obviously could be a photoshop job.Definitely alot sportier than anything I have seen from Patek before.
Back when you could just buy one
October 2014. I was on my almost daily walk through the jewellery arcade near my office. Walked into my AD and in the window was the batman. Now I wasn't looking to buy that day however needless to say I bought it. All I remember was the guy telling me he'd just put it in the window. Luck I guess. What has happend in the time between then and now 🤔
Day Date Owners... No lume dial is an issue?
Unless I am wrong, (which happens a lot) the DD40 has no lume on it's dial(?). I guess because the indicies are made of gold. I often check the time in the middle of the night on my DJ41. My grail is a white gold DD (white face) but does the lack of lume and the ability to read the time in the darkness bother any of you owners? I am wondering if it were possible for Rolex to somehow place a lume on the hands and dial to make it night-readable? If I'm wrong, by all means call me a Dorklehead, but I feel I would really miss the lume function, do any of you DD owners agree?
