Watchmaker Takes Us Inside The Popular Rolex 3135 Watch Movement
As an watches-dealer guest, Hugh Taylor from Xupeswatches-dealer (a pre-owned watches and luxury goods dealer in the UK) interviews their in-house master watchmaker, Mickey Nolan, as he proceeds to service and dissemble this famous work-horse mechanical movement - the caliber 3135 by Rolex - which is found in a series of watches, including the Submariner. Mr. Nolan offers some interesting insights into the movement and a fantastic look at what many watch lovers can appreciate in theory, but don't always know as intimately as a watchmaker who deals with them on a regular basis.Last week, for the first time, I chewed the fat with seasoned watchmaker Michael (Mickey) Nolan as he whipped apart a Rolex Submariner 3135 movement. Despite blogging about watches for a year now, this was my first time inside one. As well as hoping to get to grips with how it all works, I was keen to explore a professional's thoughts on a bread-and-butter Rolex and to find out how he feels it holds up alongside i
Hoptroff No. 16 Atomic Wrist Watch For 1000 Year Accuracy
The Hoptroff No. 16 is the first wrist watch from the "atomic watchmaker" Richard Hoptroff that brought you the No. 10 Atomic Pocket watch. watches-dealer interviewed Richard Hoptroff and discussed personal atomic timekeeping and the No. 10 pocket watch here. Today, Hoptroff has released the Hoptroff No. 16 Atomic wrist watch that contains a chip scale atomic clock and features a range of time and calendar data. In full power mode, the Hoptroff No. 16 atomic wrist watch is accurate to 1.5 seconds each thousand years, but the question is whether or not you will want to wear something with this design for that long. While Richard Hoptroff can be credited with producing the world's first timepiece with an on-board atomic clock, it was Bathys Hawaii that officially produced the first atomic clock wrist watch. Hoptroff wasn't too happy about that, as I understand it, so he pushed forward to have the first commercially produced atomic clock wrist watch with the Hoptroff No. 16 (I want to know

2531.80 Back From Modification
I received my 2531.80.00 back this morning from Steve at Ryte Time. It has gone through a few changes since I purchased it in April of last year.It looked like this when I first received it: (note the ding on the bezel at 55-56 mins)The first thing I did was purchase a Bond 1503.825 bracelet:I then had it serviced and later had a new bezel fitted.I really preferred the 2254.50.00 but did not have the funds to buy another watch, so I had Steve fit the following parts for me:Omega 064WZ3121001 Black Dial (SMP 2230.50.00)Omega 065PZ4136 Hour & Minute Hands (SMP 2230.50.00)Omega 066PZ4094 Seconds Hand (SMP 2230.50.00)ETA 2802 2557.1 Date Ring 3 o'clock White Figures on Black BackgroundOmega 082SU1464 Black Bezel (SMP 2254.60.00)And now my 2531.80.00 looks like this:I did ask Steve to supply and fit a PO 42mm seconds hand, but delivery of the hand was adding to the length of time my watch had been away, (24th of November) So I just went with the (SMP 2230.50.00) seconds hand. Now all I h

I tried to get some heavy metal in my photos, like Jocke, but I could not find a damn thing around the house that would work.So... I did what I always do: go in the back yard, stick the watch on top of the Webber grill and take a few shots.
