The Value Proposition: The Unbreakable Allure Of The Rado DiaStar Original
One of the interesting things about watch collecting is that it has all sorts of little archipelagos of design and mechanical innovation to be discovered, once you branch off from better-traveled territory. One of the most interesting watches of the late 20th century is, to me, also one of the less appreciated, for various reasons (more on that in a minute) and it’s a watch that says a great deal not only about shifting tastes, but also about the march of technology and how it’s affected what we expect from watches right down to the present day. That watch is the Rado DiaStar. The DiaStar is probably the single most memorable vintage Rado watch – the company brought out the first one in 1962, the year of (among other things) the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the debut of Dr. No. At first glance it is very much a watch of its time – there were (and are) many different models, but the ur-DiaStar has an immediately recognizable shape. Looking for advice
Good morning gentlemen,Here's my situation. Very soon I'm going to make a move and purchase BNIB AP 15400 from of the TRF trusted sellers. Now, we only have one AD in the entire city of Toronto. Do you think they will handle any of the warranty claims (shipping the watch for maintenance or repair) to Clearwater in the US and help with bracelet sizing if the watch was purchased from US? Unfortunately, the only AP service center that we had here stopped taking AP for service as I found out yesterday by calling them.Cheers and enjoy your Friday
Different straps for the Ploprof 1200
Has anyone here try putting straps other than the OEM rubber, Isofrane or Shark Mesh strap on their Ploprofs?
New BLNR!
To start this story off, I have spent the last few months months searching for a BLNR. During my search I had gotten very close to coming home with a new BLNR only to have it sold in-front of me while waiting to speak to a salesperson. Only if I could have been there half an hour earlier.. After this last attempt, I gave up at trying to find one while away on vacation and stopped by my local AD. We chatted for a while about Rolex in general, my Day-Date being funky these last few months and about why the GMT master is going to suit me very well. I left feeling happy as ever and feeling official about being on the list.Last Friday I get a call letting me know that my collection is about to get one watch bigger!
