When Nivrel And Benzinger Get Together: German Watch Making Harmony
My fondness for German watch Making is often clear as I make mention to watch makers and designers whose work produces beautiful or utilitarian timepieces. Here we have a rare combined effort of two of Germany's most exclusive had dedicated watch makers. Nivrel is known for their well-made classically simplistic timepieces which perform their functions in an uncluttered and simple execution. Benzinger, using their watch tools and machines from days of old, bring a rare attention to tiny aesthetic detail on each visible part of the watch and movement. This technique called "decorating" or "gilding" uses fine machines and tools to carve patterns on to the surfaces of a watch.Jochen Benzinger performs what is a lost art; the idea of taking the time to decorate the fruit of one's labor. In America especially, during the 19th and early 20th centuries, furniture makers would decorate their creations with patterns, carvings, and delicate attention to detail. Grail territory. New Jumbo...
A lot of threads here lately on new Jumbos. Add me to the list. After selling my 15400 last year because it just didn't feel right, I made the mistake of trying a 15202 at a boutique. Game over. Meet my newest keeper. Had to let some go but so worth it. The bracelet screws are a bear to budge. Instead of butchering the screws, I'll try the NYC boutique. One word to describe this piece...PERFECT. It's a stunner.
Breitling Grey Avenger Seawolf...B Team Complete!
My fifth Breitling arrived today, a Grey SS Avenger Seawolf! I can now field a full B Team in time for March Maddness. Last year I picked up a Yellow Seawolf and simply loved the model. I saw a Grey Seawolf and knew I needed that one in the collection as well. Its rare to see a Grey faced watch and found it stunning! So now my starting line up...at center SOH, at point guard Superocean, at shooting guard Superocean Steelfish, at forward Yellow Avenger Seawolf and introducing at power forward Grey Avenger Seawolf!
Omegas Retailed by Cartier or Tiffany
Were Omega watches ever (particularly in the 1960's) retailed by Cartier or Tiffany and sold with both Omega and the jeweler's signature on the dial?
Best Patek reference books?
Hey guys - I've got a ton of watch books and guides for Rolex and other brands.I was wondering if there are any recommendations for a good Patek book that has early vintage references and details as well as more recent models.I know John Reardon has Patek Philippe In America. Anyone have this?Open to other suggestions. Thanks
