Seven Questions for Breitling VP Jean-Paul Girardin
In our November-December issue, on sale now, Rdiger Bucher, editor-in-chief of WatchTime’s German sister magazine, Chronos, speaks to Breitling Vice President Jean-Paul Girardin about a wide variety of topics, including the development of its in-house B01 chronograph caliber. Click here for excerpts from the interview.WT: Breitling presented its first in-house movement in 2009 C the caliber 01, a chronograph movement with automatic winding and column wheel. When was the decision made to develop this caliber, and what is the strategy behind it?JPG: The idea had already been around for quite some time. You’ll recall that in 1999 we had begun to have all of our movements certified by COSC as chronometers. Even then we were asking ourselves what we would have to do as an independent company to ensure our long-term success. It was clear that it would not be appropriate to make everything ourselves, since there are highly specialized, first-class suppliers for so many individual
Richard Mille RM 033 Watch With Arabic Numeral Dial
I recently wrote about the new for 2011 ultra thin RM 033 watch here. My hands-on review showed you the version of the RM 033 (RM033) with the Roman numeral dial. As promised, here is an exclusive look at the RM 033 with an Arabic numeral dial. The face is cleaned up and large Richard Mille style Arabic numerals are placed at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock placements. Personally, I think this is the best look for the RM 033. It will come in the same 45.7mm wide by 6.30mm thick case available in 18k red or white gold, as well as platinum. Inside the watch is a really great looking automatic movement with a micro rotor. According to Richard Mille this RM 033 with Arabic numeral dial will be available in November 2011. See the link to the previous article for more tech specs and pricing.
How deep can you scratch ur AP ?
so yesterday I dropped my iphone on my watch while driving it was a really small drop that surprisingly scratch my watch and crack a bit of the phone protector. It was extremely painful to see and then today When wearing my AP there's a steel part of my backpack that bang it a bit and had a small dent on the lug This really destroy my day to be honest. I'm wondering if anyone has a before and after pic of their AP because I'm really curious on how deep the scratch is that still possible to fix or will i have to remove the lug? Which means the whole case? How do u guys live with the marks? And do any of u have dents on ur watch or only scratches? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well done breitling
Just a quick note to other Breitling fans, been having ongoing issues with my navitimer 01 from new over a year ago. It was replaced after a couple of months of back and forth to Breitling uk, then new watch just stopped with the chrono running whilst being worn, and was fully wound, so back again but this time was sent to Switzerland and several weeks later returned fixed but with accompanying scratches. So back again several weeks again, but was polished to perfection and delivered by hand by manager of Breitling service uk, with some Breitling goodies. I was starting to lose faith in this great brand but I have to say Breitling really impressed and made all good in the end, watch is now perfect, but a little reluctant to use chrono! Now just going to finally enjoy. So have faith any issues Breitling will eventually make good, this was my experience anyway. Well done and thanks to nicky Reynolds and all Breitling team.
New to Panerai, looking for advice!
Hello everyone!I've seen too many Panerai now to be able to ignore them any longer, and I'd like to add one to my collection. Problem is, in Chicago, there's only one place that I know of that has them (Tourneau, sadly) and after reluctantly heading over there today, they didn't have THAT many to look at.Bit of background for me and what I'm looking for. I have small wrists and I wear a Daytona daily right now. I had my eye on the PAM512 from photos but I had no idea how truly small this watch was and when I tried it on, I wasn't really digging it. I see that the 572 seems to be a larger, automatic version of this, but I can't find a lot of photos of the 572, especially on a wrist. One thing I don't like about some Panerai is the very wide and thick watch strap. I'm looking for something decidedly smaller, like you'd find with a white/rose gold Daytona, if that's possible at all.Further, I know my Rolexes inside and out, but aren't as familiar with the classic Panerai's and anything I s
