Photo Report: Recapping The HODINKEE Celebration Of Seiko's New NYC Boutique
A few weeks back, we took you inside the new Madison Avenue Seiko boutique to show just how special its offerings would be. The response has been incredible, and last night, we invited some of our dedicated, Seiko-loving friends to join us in a private HODINKEE celebration of this new mecca of horology in mid-town NYC. 2 OF 46 The packed house was complete with young collectors and old, seasoned and newbies. The range of interests spanned as wide as what Seiko had to offer, with not only countless Seiko 5 and divers on hand, but several hi-beat time-only pieces and many GMT's. 3 OF 46 One of the highlights was certainly the limited edition green dial hi-beat GMT that we featured on HODINKEE here. The crowd was unanimous in its praise for the piece, and some called it the most beautiful GMT they'd ever seen with this particular green dial. 4 OF 46 On hand to demonstrate just what makes Seiko so special was a master craftsman who came in
In-Depth: My Thoughts On The Four Watches That Could (And Should) Break $1M At The Phillips Geneva W
Lets get right down to it. There are four watches in Phillips upcoming sale that I believe could, and maybe even should, break $1,000,000. Two of them are from Rolex, two of them are Pateks, two of them are steel, and two of them are gold. What is perhaps even more interesting is that two of them are, in my belief, almost obvious “top lots” and two of them are slightly more under the radar. The Obvious Heavy-Hitters These first two pieces are absolutely incredible watches. They are the things that many of us dream about, and their excellence is universally appreciated by anyone that knows anything about collectible watches. Lot 214: The Rolex Oyster Cosmographer "Albino" Reference 6263 1 OF 17 From Rolex, we have a reference 6263 Daytona “Albino” that was formerly the property of some dude named Clapton. This watch is incredible, arguably within the premier echelons of all Rolex sport models not only because of the C
Am I Crazy
Hello FriendsRecently I posted which AP I should add to my collection. I think I've decided to go with the Diver. Now am I crazy to trade my Daytona towards the Diver. I find the Daytona too shiny and the non date feature kind of bothers me. I'm also finding it difficult to wear anything but my AP right. Seriously am I losing it, or just appreciating higher quality craftsmanship. I know some will say, get what sings to you, but sometimes you need a TRF check before moving ahead. :)
buy it man...
Alright guys since James Bond started to wear the Omega Seamaster in Goldeneye I have always wanted that watch. I remember back in 97 the Automatic version was in the $1,500-2,000 range. Now its up to $3,800, inflation sucks!!I work at American Airlines as a Supervisor, very happy with my job absolutely love it. I'm sure most of you have read the news that we filed for Ch11. However, I assure you American is not going anywhere. Just like Delta, United, US Airways (twice), Continental (three times) they have all filed and emerged stronger. (Not gonna get into the pension losses and all that jazz from all the airlines ) Unlike many here who are Doctors, lawyers, etc. I do not earn that high of an income, however I do live very comfortably. No wife, no kids, no mortgage I kind of live the life of a Pilot. I am always traveling managing my 10 Southwest Region cities in the Customer Service Field, hardly ever home.I have lurked these forums for years now, I joined in 2010 and had the pleas
New Toshi Straps for my 372
Richard Beard at Toshi Straps, UK is a gentleman and really does excellent work. His prices are also quite reasonable. He produced these two straps for me in 4 weeks and I have ordered another 2 including a black Horween leather strap for my 372. The quality of the leather is outstanding. Highly recommended if you are looking for something a bit different. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
