Hamilton Celebrates 120 Years With Exhibit at New York’s Tourneau Time Machine
Hamilton Watch Company, founded in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1892, marks its 120th anniversary this year. To commemorate the milestone, Hamilton has collaborated with the National Watch & Clock Museum (NAWCC) , one of the world's largest museums devoted to the art, science and history of timepieces and timekeeping, to curate a month-long public exhibit of Hamilton archives at New York City’s Tourneau Time Machine. The exhibit, which opened on June 4, takes a look back at Hamilton through the years, and is chock-full of interesting items for watch lovers and history buffs, including photos of the original Hamilton factory and past employees, several vintage timepieces (including a marine chronometer from the 1940s, an original Hamilton Pulsar, and the Ventura model that Elvis Presley wore in Blue Hawaii), dozens of old advertisements, original company newsletters and video testimonials from former employees. All items are either from Hamilton's archives or on loan from the NAW
JeanRichard 2TimeZones Watches
JeanRichard is having enough success with their well-designed line of Diverscope dive watches to merit an on-going stream of limited editions. Here is one of my favorites. They rename the watch the "2TimeZones," add some complications, and make the case out of zirconium. I think there are 2TimeZones watches that aren't in Zirconium that I took images of below. Why zirconium? It is a lot like titanium, but not titanium. Need I say more? The watch is not only a 2 time zone watch, but also a nifty world timer. One that genuinely wants to be a better world timer than the rest of them. I like how the main time and second timezone are actually totally different in style. That way you don't mix the two up - something I would personally be prone to doing. This is probably my favorite second timezone watch that I've ever checked out.The dial has of course the time, a small window for the date, then below it one for the time zone reference city. Titanium pushers on the left side of the case move
Increasing Interest In Citizen Campanola Watches
Unlike most watch companies, Citizen has been selling watches in large volumes for sometime and understands the importance of advertising. So when they began to sell their high-end Campanola line of watches, they advertised it in watch magazines and other places interested consumers might have eyes. The Campanola line is vastly different than anything Citizen has offered before, and it represents a pinnacle of watch making achievement by the Japanese company. Taking everything people want from a hand-made Swiss watch, a number of desirable complications, and using a high-quality quartz movement, Citizen is able to make a luxury watch that stands out and is more affordable.Affordability has never been much of a concern when it came to "luxury goods." Worrying about price is somewhat of a paradox when an item is designed to be expensive. However, when you consider that luxury watches are often more expensive that automobiles, it is not a matter of price, as it is a matter of even being a
Ladies Aqua Terra for Wife: 30 vs. 34mm?
I want to get my wife a new Aqua Terra with the 8520 movement (SS with white dial). She has pretty slender wrists, but I don't really know the size. I'm leading toward the 34mm size, but there is also a 30mm size. Is 34mm going to stand the test of time or is that slightly bigger size going to be considered a fad in the future? As it is these are still fairly thick watches. Any input would be appreciated.
Best trade for a 2011 Mini Cooper ever!
So I'm generally a Rolex girl...but it seems my significant other may have caught the bug! Here's the result of a trade she worked out for her old car:
