Time Test: French Twist
Watchmaking has its own mini-language: a set of French terms with specific horological definitions. Match the following words with their meanings. The answers appear at the bottom in the form of 3-C, 5-G, etc. (To find out how to pronounce these words, see Part 2 of our Pronunciation Guide in the Reference Center section.)1. guilloch2. rattrapante3. anglage4. bauche5. sonnerie6. ligne7. tourbillon8. monopoussoir9. remontoir10. carr11. chablon12. chaton13. foudroyante14. perlage15. reglageHere are your definitions: A. How big are your wrists for the 42mm ROO? And which is most popular?
I have sub-7 inch wrists (more like 6 3/4) and it's been a long time since I've tested the ROOs... I recall not being able to pull off the Diver probably because it was 44mm.So how are you smaller wrists able to pull it off? Do you go for the bracelet which appear to be more forgiving or do you special order the short strap? And which is most popular (or more popular) - the BB, Volcano, Panda, or Safari? I'm not very fond of the Rubberclad and I can't pull off the 44mm ROOs...There's also a grey on grey dial ROO 42mm... Not sure what it is called. Thanks for the help... And any pics are welcome to enable!!
Question for the SD 16600 lovers......
I'm currently looking at two seadwellers for sale, model 16600. Both are A serial numbers, one is a Swiss only dial and one is a Swiss made dial. I just want to be sure that the inserts are original on both. The Swiss only Dial has a pointed 4 insert, which is different than all A-serial pieces I have seen. They all seem to come with a flat 4 insert, which is the insert that is on the Swiss made piece for sale. I prefer the Swiss only watch because it is a complete set, but I'm concerned that it may be a service insert. Sorry I can't post any pictures as both watches are currently for sale and I don't want to violate the sellers in any way. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
