Bulgari Octo Watch
The legacy of Gerald Genta lives on now with even more Bulgari-ness. The original Gerald Genta Octo was a fascinating timepiece with a range of complicated movements. The "Octo" name referred to the eight-sided case, and unfortunately there are no tentacles related to this product. While certainly unique, I have to say that the Octo looks quite nice on the wrist. Bulgari continues with the now iconic case with a new watch simply called the Octo.Assuming the design of the case appeals to you, there is a lot to like about this product. First of all, it has an in-house made automatic movement called the Bulgari Caliber BVL 193. While not revolutionary, Bulgari hopes that it will help assert the product as unique and help the brand continue to position itself as a movement maker. To be honest, with some of the brand's assets from its acquisitions, they produce some of the most interesting high-end mechanical movements around. I believe the BVL 193 is a new movement in the Octo watch, and s
Help on a Speedmaster please.
To make a short story long....many moons ago I decided on a Sub over a Speedy. After that I went for an AT Chrono, bypassing the Speedy once again. To make things even worse I added a Panerai and a JLC after that. Now I feel almost guilty that the speedy has been overlooked for so long. So time to act!Anyway, I have found this 3570.50.00 Speedmaster. It's a 2006, comes with papers, has had a light polish, and comes with a 12 month movement warranty. Asking price is AU $2,999.Can i have some opinions on this watch/price pls. Also should I be going for the Hesalite or a sapphire?

A deal too good to pass up on a 17000 Oysterquartz
I had been researching Oysterquartz again after having owned one or two for a short time a few years ago. I flipped them both and made a few bucks, but recently was thinking it would be nice to have one again. Prices on listings in the FS section here were in the $3000 range and even higher on Ebay. I had tried to buy one in the FS section about a month ago, but in retrospect I am glad the deal fell through. The dial color was dark blue which I have found is difficult to read at a glance. Fast forward a few weeks.I managed to get my hand on a beautiful 17000 for way less ($2000), and with the dial that I was looking for...white roman. At that price, I couldn't say no. I am traveling to NY in 2 weeks and will have it inspected and have the battery changed at Rolex NY. I have already opened the caseback and inspected the movement...also saw at least 5 watchmaker marks on the caseback spanning the last 40 years. The serial dates the watch to 1978 so it is an early 17000. Tough to b
