Omega Unveils its First 2016 Olympics Watch, the Speedmaster Mark II “Rio 2016”
The 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro are still two years away. However, Omega, which will be the Games’ official timekeeper for the 27th time, has already introduced its first limited-edition watch celebrating the Rio Games: the Omega Speedmaster Mark II “Rio 2016,” a chronograph watch with an in-house, co-axial movement. This special edition of the Omega Speedmaster Mark II watch released by Omega at this year’s Baselworld watch fair and inspired by a vintage Omega Speedmaster model from 1969 has a distinctive barrel-shaped case made of polished and brushed stainless steel. The crown and chronograph pushers are polished, and the steel bracelet, which features Omega’s patented screw-and-pin design and a foldover rack-and-pusher clasp, has both polished and brushed surfaces. Wearers can adjust the bracelet’s length by releasing the outer clasp and sliding the inner clasp.Beneath the flat, scratch-resistant crystal is a matte-black tricompax dia

In-Depth: Four Complicated Rolex Models From The Past That Deserve To Be Made Again, As Seen In The Phillips Geneva Watch Auction Two
The longer one spends around the watch collecting world, the more one tends to be interested in early watches – typically those that pre-date the "modern era." What I mean by that is there is a clear division with many brands – Rolex, Omega, and Heuer, for example, all began naming watch lines in the 1950s and '60s: the Submariner, Speedmaster, Carrera, et al. But, the watches that came before these great lines of horology existed are fascinating not only because of their relative obscurity, but also because of their purity in design. In this story, I examine four watches all available in Phillips' Geneva Watch Auction Two that were made by Rolex, and they're all complicated. But, none of them fall under the category of a Submariner, GMT, Daytona, or Explorer. And there is real beauty in that. My ROO may be a keeper.
I put my AP Panda on a big test tonight.Timing my porterhouse steaks on the grill.Using the chrono. And I was able to see the time in the subdials. With my failing eye sights at twilight. The red needles on white tick marks stood out over the black dials.Passed the test. Good bear.
