Watches NEWS
H. MOSER CIE Swiss Alp Watch
With the smartwatch invasion upon us, there are those who have hidden their heads in the sand, those who have hopped on the technological bandwagon to design hybrid models at breakneck speed to turn an easy profit, and there are those who have rolled up their sleeves, stayed true to their roots and taken a stand for traditional mechanical watchmaking. Turning the trend on its head, Edouard Meylan, CEO of H. Moser & Cie, has unveiled a timepiece whose design is inspired by a smartwatch but its 100% Swiss core has a mechanical heart: Swiss Alp Watch. The special edition (50 available) has a white gold case (38.2x44mm) enclosing a manual wind HMC324 calibre which provides a 4-day power reserve (96 hours). The movement brings to life key time functions: the hours and minutes adorn the centre of the signature smoky dial as leaf-shape hands glide over the applied indices and the seconds appear in a counter at 6. Price: 24,900 CHF. Sharmila Bertin
Trade Explorer II for PO 8500
Would you trade an older Explorer II black, for a LNIB Omega PO 232.30.46.21.01.003 (black on bracelet with orange numbers which happens to be my favorite)? Straight trade that is.
A client gave me a gift
.omegawatches/spirit/l...h-time/summaryOne of my clients surprised me with a gift this week - Omega's Journey Through Time compendium! I was blown away, it was such a kind gesture on his part and a staggering book for an Omega buff. I highly recommend it if you were considering picking it up. It's 800 pages, 10 pounds, and illustrated to the extreme. Very little text, mostly images of watches, components, advertising and props. The scope is ridiculous, I've never seen ANY watch book cover as many models and variations from a single company.
No love for the 5235.......
I saw on IG patekonomics that our own patekaholic mentioned that a 5235 was recently passed in at a Sotheby's auction in HK (6th Oct)The low estimate was approx. USD 45k.Now this leads to the question where to from here?Lots of discussions about a connoisseurs watch, legibility, over supply etc but as an owner of the watch I love it. Reading the time is simple and if anything my only criticism would be it is hard to read the day and month. What does everyone think? Soon to be discontinued, new model coming, Patek flop or instant classic? For my take I love it and think that if Patek discontinue it (yes I hear the usual people saying that it won't happen) it will quickly be appreciated as a classic.Supply seems to be abundant now but the may be a function of initial problems and inventory issues.Anyway enough of what I think....let me know your thoughts?
Help me from this insanity!!!!!!!
Ever since several members, AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!! Have been talking about, as well as showing their lovely photos of their new 3940's. I have had the craving t get one.My first and so far only step at getting a Patek Perpetual Calendar was when I bought a 5140G about 4 years ago, at that time I thought it was going to be my finally watch!!!!Well,it wasn't to be and I did a deal which introduced me to the world of Mr FP Journe. But thats another story. Now from listening to what many members have said, and I have to agree the 3940 is a lot easier watch to read, so with that in mind I am considering trading my 5205G in against one, as and when I can find one! Please give me your thoughts on this craving and possible trade?Currently my 5205G is at the Patek service centre in the UK, having the dial exchanged for the lighter one and a light polish, so will come back looking like newPlease, fuel my desire my including as many photos and reviews as you like
