Breaking the Mold: 5 Offbeat Watches from Baselworld
Contrary to popular belief, Baselworld is not just a steady stream of tourbillons, chronographs, and watches that are mostly black. The show does play host to some individualists who create watches that are outside the mainstream. Some are newcomers, and some return year after year, reliably delighting us with their unique vision. We take a look at a few of their creations. One of our favorite newcomers this year is Breva. The brand's watch is the Gnie 01, a stylish and original mechanical mini-weather station for the wrist.Breva was founded by a young entrepreneur named Vincent Dupontreu. Born near Paris in 1977, at age 11 he was selling bracelets at the beach, and at 13, skateboard ramps. At 22, he launched an eponymous fashion brand which he sold seven years later. After he earned an MBA in Switzerland and ran an art gallery, his desire to own a unique timepiece, and his inability to find just the right one, led him to launch his own watch brand. The brand's name was inspired by a
De GRISOGONO Otturatore Watch Is Four-Faced
After some years of development De GRISOGONO released a fantastic new caliber in a polarizing new timepiece with a name I can barely pronounce. Try saying "Otturatore" a few times really fast. I am sure that means something sexually satisfying in Italian, but this is a Swiss brand through and through. De GRISOGONO is a rare band in the US, but one that has a lot of cool and complex pieces. While a lot of brands like to call themselves "avant garde, " I have to say that De GRISOGONO actually is.What makes me sad is how expensive this watch is. It is about 69,100 - 71,100 Swiss Francs depending on the style. It doesn't need to be that expensive, even though the brand did put a lot of work in to the movement development. Offer a steel-cased version for $20,000 and then at least you have my attention more. Much of that 85,000 Swiss Franc amount is going to be justified in the chunky 18k rose or white gold case - that surely uses a lot of metal. The quizzical case is about 45mm wide and abo
AP service cost/duration VS PP? - Random curiosity.
I know the AP service can set you back by 3K at times from what i've read on here (don't personally own one - yet), however I am curious if servicing an AP costs pretty much the same as servicing a PP.The 15202 vs the 5711 for example. Also, how about the duration. I know PP can take up to 5 months sometimes, is this also the case with AP?Finally. Has anyone ever had a full bezel replacement on his AP? Curious how much that would set you back. Thanks for the info guys.

Watch Box for a DSDB
My fianc has just got a DSDB and he also has a submariner. I want to get him a watch box but I'm worried about the size. Has anyone got any suggestions for a box for 3 watches (to allow for expansion of his collection) which would accommodate for the large watch? Many thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
