Linde Werdelin Improves Their Free Watch Evaluation Process With the "Test Set"
Trust me that it can sometimes be a logistical (and insurance) nightmare for Linde Werdelin to provide potential customers with a free trial run of one of their watches. Basically, they will send you one of their watches for five days to check out and determine if you want to buy it. They obviously hope that you do so. And the point is that you get a real-live chance to experience their watches. As a sign of the Internet distribution times, Linde Werdelin is a pioneer - setting the tone for what will be the future of online watch watch buying. To my knowledge, no one else has been this straight forward and accommodating when it has come giving you the change to check out the product.Since Linde Werdelin started, I believe that they offered some form of test run for their watches. However, before now, you could only check out their Elemental watch model. With the advent of the new Linde Werdelin "Test Set," you now only get to try out a larger selection of watches, but they also send yo
Historical Perspectives: Just Because: An Original Zenith A386 El Primero Chronograph And The Awesome Striking Tenth, Next To Each Other
The watch on the left is the awesome Zenith El Primero Striking Tenth chronograph, a watch we reviewed in detail here and absolutely loved (sidenote, if you've never seen one of these in action, you have to watch the video here).? The watch at right looks a lot like the 2010 Striking Tenth, doesn't it? It should, because it's the reference from which it was birthed.?You see, the Striking Tenth borrowed its tri-color dial from the original El Primero chronograph from 1969 - reference A386.? This early automatic chronograph (some would say it's the first self-winding chronograph, some would say the first high-beat self-winding chronograph, and others, the first self-winding integrated chronograph) is something of a cult classic, as Zenith themselves say no more than 2000 examples were ever produced.? The tri-color dial of the A386 has since become Zenith's trademark dial configuration, but did you know there is more than just aesthetics behind its design? The story goes that rey was chos
20JUL69 1st footprints on the moon
Getting the jump on the anniversary.... Apollo 11 launched from Cape Kennedy on July 16, 1969, 09:32 am EDT; Nearing the Moon, the descent engine continued to provide braking thrust until about 102 hours, 45 minutes into the mission. Partially piloted manually by Armstrong, the Eagle landed in the Sea of Tranquility in Site 2 at 0 degrees, 41 minutes, 15 seconds north latitude and 23 degrees, 26 minutes east longitude. At about 109 hours, 42 minutes after launch, Armstrong stepped onto the moon, with one small step for man About 20 minutes later, Aldrin followed him. [wearing his Omega Speedmaster! --Neil's remained on-duty in the LEM]. I am fortunate with this older cousin,' 1058 movements earlier than Neil's 105.012-65 with JB Champion Mesh Bracelet. I honor the Apollo 11 Crew's anniversary with a glorious Romeo Y Julieta, Habano. Colonel 58
Parsing perpetual practicality
So folks, I'm within a hair's breadth of pulling the trigger on a Patek 5159r, the ALS Langematic Perpetual, or maybe the JLC MUT Perpetual. But I think I've landed on the 5159. Although I've collected nice timepieces for years, this will be my first perpetual. My question isn't really a help me choose query...instead more one of practicality. I travel internationally quite a bit, requiring frequent adjustment of my watch to local time. My go-to travel beater has historically been a 116710 on a Sub bracelet. But I'd like to start traveling with the new perpetual. Hence my question: how do you handle multi-timezone travel with a perpetual calendar watch? Forward and backward? Or do you just leave it at home on the winder?Thanks,RichP.S. I understand that Blancpain has an Annual Calendar that can be set backwards across date transitions...( .blancpain/en/news/vil...eme-annuel-gmt )...interesting.
