This one isn't small, simple, or elegant like the 36 mm Pilots Watch or the new Mark XVIII from IWC this year, but it features a very cool complication. For the first time, one may now set the time zone on a multi-time zone wristwatch quickly, just by pressing and turning the bezel of this new Timezoner Chronograph. Breaking News: General Patton's Watch �C A Graduation Gift From His Parents �C Sells For $137,000 At Auction
Remember General Patton's five-minute-repeating, split-second chronograph pocket watch that we covered here back in September? Well, it went up for auction today at Heritage Auctions and sold for a whopping $137,000.The watch was originally purchased for $350 (negotiated down from $600) by General Patton's father, George Patton II as a gift for his son back in 1927. 1 OF 2 The watch was originally estimated for $25,000 to 35,000 and hammered at $137,000, which is no surprise due to the provenance and level of complication. Is the new SMP bracelet with screws a step backward?
Do you think the new SMP bracelet with the screws to secure the links a step backwards from the previous pins and collars?The new system uses two tiny screws on each side to secure a pin the middle to hold the links together. To me, the tiny screws are ... tiny! They are easily lost, much worse than the collars in the old system.And I have no problem with the pin and collar system. With the right tool, I can size the bracelet easily with no risk of scratch. Now I have to mess with the tiny polished screws, its much easier to lose the screws, and scratch the screws or links with a slip!I wished Omega kept the old pin and collar system or just go with a single large screw to hold the links together.

No Date Patek 5711 ...interested?
I love the clean 5711 dial but I believe that it would be even more beautiful and balanced without the date window.My understanding is that Patek no longer produces bespoke versions but perhaps if enough were interested...The question is would you be?
