Interview With Oliver Ike About A. Manzoni & Fils Watches
We recently had an opportunity to do an interview with Oliver Ike, the man behind the Ikepod, as well as the resurrection of the A. Manzoni & Fils brand which is among the highest-end watches being funded on Kickstarter. Oliver's watches have become instantly recognizable, and he looks to be shaking things up a bit in the luxury watch industry with his new launch. In the interview, we cover a variety of topics, including how Ikepod came to be, what Oliver has done since Ikepod, and insights into his new?A. Manzoni & Fils Canopus Planner watch.watches-dealer (ABTW): Even if everyone doesn't know Ikepod by name, they instantly recognize the designs, and can appreciate their unique and sophisticated looks. How did they come to fruition?Oliver Ike (OI): I discovered the POD style of the Australian designer Marc Newson when I was working during my studies in the design furniture market. Nobody knew him, not even in the design trade in Europe. I saw the first publication of his work
New PO Rubber Strap.
Just got my new rubber strap for my PO. It's like having two watches now. As much as I like the Omega Bracelets, I must say I like the look of this rubber strap with it better. Maybe becasue it's new :)The PO is the 42mm version.
Ultimate grail INcOMING...
Greetings gents,,,As some of you know I have been lusting after the 5131J/R for few years. Being an airline captain flying around the globe week in week out I thought this amazing piece would be fitting to own and one day and look at all the cities and World enamel dial knowing I have touched down all over it would be an amazing achievement. After knocking on doors all over the World at various Patek Philippe ADs and even writing a personalized letter direct to Mr Stern I soon realised this piece is mission impossible anywhere near retail price.. Anyway cut a long story short I recently parted with my gorgeous 5980R and 5712 (very reluctantly this one) added some cash and finally got my hands on a sealed 5131R from a good friend here in Dubai. I am over the moon with the watch as it typifies everything that Patek is about with the calavatra style case and enamel dial of the World, and the Rose gold is awesome too.Hope you enjoy few photos and I am sure I will be adding more soon.. Andy
Undecided.... Grail Hunt
Hi guys. Ok, as alway I need your advice in what would be a better decision. I like movements and PP drive me nuts in a good way in that area. Currently my focus has been set solely on the 5712 in either ss or Rose Gold. Lately , I came across the Patek 5205 (either grey of black) which has a similar dial to the PP 5626. So, what do you guys think? What is the model to go for? Is the 5712 out shined by the 5205? Or, is the 5726 the way to go between those 4? Movement wise, are the 5205 and the 5726 the same? I know the 5712 movement is a beauty with the micro rotor but the 5626 is also great. All that said, thoughts? Knowledge? Words of wisdom? Here are some pics of the models from the Internet. Heavy Hitters for a Rainy Saturday
My wife and I are going to the Theatre this evening to see Wicked and a nice dinner beforehand at a nicer Italian restaurant. I thought it would be a good night to bring out two of our favorite watches. Happy Saturday everyone
