Bamford Watch Department have just launched the Commando Edition, welcoming a new era of watch customization by employing a versatile coating called Graphite Powder Coating (GPC). The Bamford Watch Department Commando Edition colour scheme offers the chance to pick-up a Rolex Submariner or Rolex Milgauss coated with one of three unique GPC colors (desert, combat, or forest). In addition to the extremely hard-wearing and aesthetically novel exterior, the famous customizers will also provide a new dial for these classic Rolex watches. The dials, which appear to be of sandwich construction, feature big, bold, luminous numbers at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, and a large downwards-pointing arrow at 12. Ulysse Nardin Perpetual Calendar Manufacture Watch
For 2014, Ulysse Nardin continues to move "in-house" by replacing many of its existing watch collections with new ones that include in-house made movements. With the "Perpetual Manufacture" the brand's perpetual calendar movement gets a full in-house treatment. Previously it was a sort of half and half movement combining an in-house module with something like a base Swiss ETA automatic. To debut the fully in-house made perpetual calendar movement Ulysse Nardin will release the first models as a limited edition set.Ulysse Nardin has been making in-house movements for quite a while, but most of them have been in their most high-end watches. This includes their various minute repeaters, tourbillons, and range of exotic high-complication timepieces. The sapphire crystal case-back shows off the enchanting details of the movement, including such decorative elements as graceful Cotes de Geneve, perlage and satine soleil finishes. The movement features a balance wheel making 21,600 alternations per hour. Studded with 37 jewels, the movement boasts a 40-hour power reserve. Am I the only one?
....who finds it odd that AP doesn't offer a 42mm ROO in RG with a ceramic bezel? It seems like such an obvious winner for those of us who think the 44mm RG novelty is too big but find the rubber clad bezel lacking lustre. Those two models should mate.
