Piaget Emperador Coussin XL 700P (Updated with Live Photos and Price)
It has become known among educated watch enthusiasts that Piaget makes its mechanical movements in-house. What is less known is that Piaget is one of the very few Swiss watch brands that also makes its own quartz movements in-house as well. The brand paid tribute to this dual technical heritage at SIHH 2016 with the Piaget Emperador Coussin XL 700P, a “concept” watch (it will be produced and sold) that combines a mechanical caliber with a quartz-driven regulator.Limited to 118 pieces, the Piaget Emperador Coussin XL 700P, and its ultra-thin, generator-regulated mechanical movement, Caliber 700P, commemorates the 40th anniversary of Piaget’s very first in-house quartz movement, Caliber 7P, which debuted in 1976. Firmly ensconced in Piaget’s Black Tie collection of elegant men’s dress watches, it features the familiar Emperador cushion-shaped case, measuring a stately 46.5 mm in diameter and made of white gold with a black ALDC-coated gold bezel. LOVE my new Speedmaster Pro Tintin!
I am usually not the kind of person to post an incoming (still have to properly introduce my BLNR in the Rolex section) but I am so happy with my new acquisition that I would like to give it due credits!Long story short, I started in the (serious) watch world in 1998 when I rewarded myself with a Seamaster Pro 300m diver (aka the Bond watch or 2531.80 for you geeks!). Wore that one for 16 years straight when I stumbled The Rolex Forum as I was increasing my knowledge for my new passion of really serious watches. Had long been eyeing the Speedy Pro but the Rolex GMT Master-2 was starting to catch my eye and I had a new admiration for Rolex as a brand (used to dislike them quite a lot as the cheesy glitzy old DD and other TT DJ were never my cup of tea... I will admit). Eventually, I got a 3570.50 and as much as I loved it at first sight, it proved to not be a daily wearer for me as it was lacking the date and I felt that the hesalite was a bit too prone to swirls. Decided to sell it to
Speedy lume shots
Anyone have speedmaster pro lume shots? Have searched but not found; currently am considering a speedy saphire sandwich as an economical chronograph but lume is a major deal breaker for me it it's not super bright / readable.
My New Patek 5990 Flaw...
With all the stories lately about ridiculously long service times from patek and inconsistencies with new watches from the factory, I guess you guys can add another to the list.. Was admiring the movement of my 5990 nautilus yesterday and I noticed a little hair fiber inside the movement. Please see the pic below.. this is really the last thing I care to deal with at the moment, but if I don't send it in for service, the fiber could fall into the movement and get caught in a gear, only to cause further problems. Not impressed at all with patek at the moment. red circle around the fiber.
