Ball Fireman Classic 40mm Watch
These days Ball watches are an easy buy. Well-made mechanical Swiss watches that tend to fit the bill nicely and their prices are more fair than inflated. Ubiquitous tritium gas tube illumination ain't bad either. Ball's core design ethos is split between original designs, al la Engineer Hydrocarbon creations, as well as faithful homages. This new Fireman Classic 40mm is among the latter. It isn't the first time anyone has given a nod to Patek Philippe, and this latest Ball watch is their interpretation of the the Patek Philippe 5107 from a dial design perspective. While the Patek will be only about 37mm wide on your wrist, the Fireman Classic is 40mm wide making for a nicely-sized dress watch. Hour indicators and dauphine hands are as close as Ball can get to the Patek look while incorporating tritium gas tubes on the face. You'll find the tubes neatly placed in the hands, as well as oriented vertically as the lume points on the periphery of the dial. The case is rather durable as well
Hands-On: A Look At The NOMOS Lambda C The $20,000 NOMOS
If you caught last year’s watch I wore the most by every member of the team, then you know that I’m a devoted fan of NOMOS. I’m admitting that bias up front in an attempt to absolve myself of any allegations of favoritism at the end of the review. This is a hands-on report on the NOMOS Lambda, a model that was met with a variety of praise and criticism when we first covered it. Along with its sister-release the Lux, the Lambda is NOMOS’s most expensive offering – by a lot. The Weltzeit (the astounding in-house dual time that sent ripples through the industry) retails at $6,100, and even that’s a price hike from the majority of NOMOS’s other in-house, stainless-steel models, which range from $1,500 to $4,000. The Lambda retails at $18,000 in rose gold and $20,000 in white gold. I’ll be the first to admit the unexpected proposition from my favorite German brand. 1 OF 8 Has NOMOS established itself as a (if not the) leader in t

Recent Auction Results
Anyone follow the Sothebey's auction results in HK this morning? .sothebys/en/auctions/...es-hk0789.htmlSome interesting results and I thought the catalog was very well put together with something for everyone. There seems to be a definite thawing of some modern-era classics like the 3970 (with a P selling for $130k), the 5970 (with a P selling for $190k) and the 5070 (with a P selling for $175, a new record for a non-sealed 5070P). 5970G and R were flat however.Nautilus performed well as well of course with a blue 5711 1/a selling for $60k, which to me is unbelievable. Who buys this instead of a 5070J/G/R for a little more money? Two enamel worldtimers in the catalog also did fine-average I would say with a 5131J selling in the mid 90k range and a 5131G selling for just slightly above $100k. What caught your eye? Have a good day.
Cases 111 and 312
helloPAM cases of Luminor 1950 are different from Luminor Base?Seem the same but when I see photos of a 312 and a 111 I think they are different. Both are 44 mm. It seems to me or is there any difference?
