Still Waiting for my Diver!!!
I've been waiting all morning for the FedEx guy to come drop the package with my new Diver. Still waiting!!!I am literally, having an anxiety crisis!!!
First ever Perpetual Calendar - Patek or Breguet?
I was watching one of my favourite shows called Auction which also featured the record breaking Sotheby's auction of Henry Graves Jr supercomplication, and recently saw the hammer go down on a beautiful 1518 owned by Gene Autry, the first Perpetual Calendar Chronograph made in a series by a watchmaker, and heavily responsible for putting PP at the highest echelon of the HH map. It seemed especially relevant as we have had some wonderful PCC incomings here recently and most of the rest of us dream of owning one some day.I also wondered what the first Perpetual Calendar watch ever made was and discovered that it was between a Patek, the 97975 made in 1898 but for a women’s pendant watch, and a Breguet, the 4244, but while it was made later in 1928, the caliber was made for a wristwatch. I would say it was the Breguet.Just some interesting reading below including the first wristwatch ever made by Patek, the Property of a Countess, I call it .watchtime/wristwatch-...1868-to-today/ht
Aiming for 2-3 watches max
I decided to do like Jorge and to try to limit myself to 2 or 3 watches, at the moment I have 7, not counting an old quartz Cartier Santos, and a very old manual wound Omega chrono, one was given to me on my 18th birthday by my grandmother and the Omega was my father's, so these 2 aren't going anywhere even if I don't wear them, so let's say that in modern pieces I have 7, 3 Rolex, 3 Panerai and 1 Blancpain.I find myself wearing 1 maybe 2 but the others being in the safe practically all the time.I got the Blancpain 7 days ago but am not wearing as I will flip it to put my finances afloat after buying the Hulk and the 5712.Now I am wearing 24/7 my Rolex BLNR.So decided to put everything on sale, and once that is sold and I have received my 5712 and my 116610 LV, will have only those 2, I might add another but am hesitating between an Aquanaut, SS or a Royal Oak, love both but maybe the RO is a little too close to the PP, and maybe an Aquanaut is more appropriate. One thing is sure I nee
Taken a big plunge.
I promised myself when I went on the factory tour. No watches. Period. My collection was complete. Even did a thread on it.Hmm.Then I saw the 5159 in the room with the Grand Complications.Still, I am not getting another watch. Or trading any.Back home went to the AD to drop a bottle of wine off as a thank you...There in a display case, for the first time in my AD was the 5159. In white gold.So after much deliberation the Nautilus has gone in today as deposit against the 5159.Then I actually think the collection of pateks is as good as I can get it...5527: Yellow Gold. Simple watch and Pateks signature piece.5070: Rose Gold. Complicated watch.5159: white Gold. Grand complication.Just got to figure out where to the get the remaining money from now..
