LVMH Acquires Stake in Herms
LVMH, owner of TAG Heuer, Hublot and Zenith, has acquired 17.1% of French fashion house Herms for approximately $2 billion. Founded in 1837, Herms is perhaps best known for scarves, ties and handbags, though the company also produces a range of fashion watches, as well as fine watches in its Pices d’exception line. Herms CEO Jean-Louis Dumas passed away on May 1, leading to speculation that the members of the founding family might be willing to sell, though the family has issued a statement confirming their desire to retain control. The family owns about 73% of the company, and Herms shares have doubled since May 1. The seller of the LVMH stake has not been identified. For its part, LVMH says that it does not intend to take control of the company, though many analysts believe LVMH is positioning itself for an eventual takeover.Following the LVMH announcement, Herms shares climbed 26.65 euros or 15% to 202.85 euros in Paris trading, valuing the company at 21.4 billion euros,
How 3 became 1
This is my first post in the PP discussion forum. Until very recently I had a humble little 3 watch collection of vintage rolexes (1016, 5513 and 1680). By chance I was talking with a dealer i'd dealt with and asked him to keep me in mind if he had any nice vintage pieces coming in. Anything else he asked? No nothing, unless of course you happen to get in my holy grail watch. What's that he said? A Nautilus I replied, but quickly followed that up with I know how rare they are particularly on the 2nd hand market.Much to my surprise he sent me back a photo of a 5711. He said he had been holding onto it for 9 months as he didn't want to sell it to just anyone - but someone who would appreciate it for what it is. Turns out, I was the 1st person since then who had asked if he had one. I cannot explain why he would not have not put it on his site earlier. All I can say is I am extremely glad he didn't.In the days of collections growing I guess I am going against the grain with my all eggs in
First Rolex Incoming!!
Hey every, as some of you know I have been in the market for a Rolex and was inbetween a Rhodium YM or SubC date. I went into my AD today as he had both in stock to try and figure out which one I was going to purchase (in the FUTURE).Ultimately decided that the YM was a little too flashy and the Sub was just timeless, perfect, and everything I was looking for in my first Rolex (currently wear a Tag Formula Chrono).I tried to wheel a deal...and got the option to ship out of state withba small discount. I was really back and forth on whether or not I should pull the trigger (like my whole neck was red and my girlfriend was laughing because I was nervous/excited). Ultimately I decided to walk out because I really wanted to wait a little longer......30 minutes later I calle day AD and said screw it!!! Let's put a bow on it! Bought my first Rolex 116610LNThe WORSTE part is I don't get to wear it till next weekend when I see my best friend out of state!!!P.S. how do I post picture from
I've never seen a Rolex like this before only $90k...

DD40 - Whats the max wrist size on a stock bracelet without adding links?
Quick question that a many of you may know off the top of your head:What is the max wrist size that a stock DD40 bracelet can handle (comfortably) without having to buy extra links?I'm a 7.5 wrist normally. I tried on a fully linked DD40 last night and the watch was fairly snug. This was at an AD down in the Bahamas, at the end of a long hot day, so my wrist size was swelled bigger than normal. I'm thinking I would be fine with a stock size bracelet but wanted some feedback.I had never considered needing to add links to the president bracelet (thinking they came bigger) as I usually take one link out of a glidelock and on a Daytona I'm fully linked with the clasp micro adjustments on the inner/tightest slot. Thanks
