Lang & Heyne Caliber I Movement Done From Extinct Mammoth Ivory
I am glad to know that no living animal species was harmed in the creation of this watch. Dresden, Germany based high-end brand Lang & Heyne will produce a limited edition set of 25 Caliber I movements for its watches with bridges made from the tusks of extinct wooly mammoths. You don't see mammoth ivory used a lot. It is rare and hard to get being available only from well-preserved mammoths. All the ivory here for example was sourced from a find in Siberia, where the permafrost can preserve entire mammoth bodies in relatively good condition. Lang & Heyne acquired some ivory through a German dealer and investigated its properties in watch making.I firmly believe that using modern elephant ivory for anything these days is pure evil. Poaching in places such as Africa is a sin against nature, and should be prevented at all costs. The destruction of animal species on this planet for short-term profit should be much more a matter of international concern. If you see anything that is
Thinking about buying a PAM 000
That new watch itch is driving me crazy. I currently have an Exp 1 and LvC and am thinking about buying the PAM 000. With the new U.S. price reduction it is even more tempting. However, I could also see myself flipping it down the road. If I can get it from an AD 10% under do you think that would prevent me from taking a big hit if I flipped it within the year?
The Official Yellow Gold Submariner Date Owner's Thread
After completing a search on the Forum, it would appear a thread for this reference has never been created. Taking into account there is an Owner's Club thread for nearly, if not all other versions (new and old) of the Submariner, one should be created where all yellow gold Submariners can be showcased.Don't have mine yet, but that will change in the next couple of months for those who have followed my posts. So to owners past and present of the 116618 LB/LN, 16618 LB/LN and 16608, let's see them!
Double Incoming: Super Heroes
Hi from Italy, that's my double Incoming: Batman and Hulk
Incoming - First Rolex!
After several months of internal debate, I finally pulled the trigger on a GMT-IIc. I can't wait to take pictures when it arrives. To those with a GMT, is there anything I should know beforehand that I may have not heard about? Thanks.
