Gucci Takes the Plunge Into High Horology with New Gucci Dive Watch
(As seen in the October issue of WatchTime.)At Baselworld, Gucci announced it will launch a new men's watch that stands apart from the brand's other watches. Due out next year, the Gucci Dive is an official divers' watch, certified to adhere to ISO standard 6425. But what is most significant about it is its movement. The movement in the Gucci Dive is not a standard ETA movement, like those used in Gucci's other mechanical watches, but a GP3300, a high-end automatic made by the Sowind Group. Two years ago, Sowind, parent of Girard-Perregaux, became Gucci's sister company when it was acquired by the luxury-goods conglomerate PPR (which in June was renamed Kering ). Michele Sofisti is the CEO of both Sowind and of Gucci's watch division. The 3300 movement is Girard-Perregaux's workhorse, used in such G-P watches as the Sea Hawk 1000M and Chrono Hawk 1000M (in which it is paired with a Dubois Dpraz chronograph module). The Gucci Dive will be much more expensive than other Gucci watches: th
5167a service
I am contemplating buying a 5167a. It was sold in 2007 so I will assume 11 years old. It has never been serviced, but keeping excellent time. So there is the dilemma. Do I send it back to PP for service, will cost at least $1k and be without it for 6 months? If it ain't broke so don't fix it? I have no experience with Patek so I need some expert experience. Thanks.

Difficult to pick between blue dial with bracelet vs. annual calendar... any suggestions? Thanks
WG Pepsi 116719BLRO Now exclusive
In my humble opinion Rolex have made a genius move here and have made a huge gesture to owners of the previous WG Pepsi! Why? Few reasons - 1. Interest in the new Pepsi steel will be similar - if not more intense - than the ceramic Daytona and equally as difficult to get hold of, making the old model with black dial much more desirable, albeit in precious metal.2. The black dial will only be available on the new steel jubilee or on the dis-continued 116719. 3. It looks way better on the Oyster bracelet and buying WG will be the only way to own it on one (for now anyway).4. A relatively short and limited run of 116719BLRO will make it a collectors piece - further enhanced by the desirability of the new and scarcely available steel model.5. The RED time zone hand has been removed from the new WG with blue dial version making the old version with black dial unique.Time will tell but I think current owners of the 116719BLRO should be rubbing their hands together. White face 116500 vs black face 116500
So I've noticed online that the white face 116500 is being sold at a higher premium than the black face one.... and the difference is a considerable amount...at some places the white face is being sold $2500 USD more than the black face (at swissluxury for example)..... how come? Is this due to more demand of the white face?....also the difference is just a dial swap away, which probably Rolex will do themselves for you if you are ready to purchase the extra dial (if not now, maybe later).... than y such a big premium for a different colour dial? Also how long do you guys think this premium will remain? And scarcity? Meaning it will be easily available at Rolex stores?
