Close-Up: Ulysse Nardin Freak Phantom
Ulysse Nardin made the watch cognoscenti sit up and take notice back in 2001, when it unveiled its wildly unconventional Freak watch, one of the first timepieces to use silicon in key parts of its movement. The Freak Phantom, introduced at Baselworld 2013, continues that tradition of innovation and, well, freakishness. The original Ulysse Nardin Freak, which was the first timepiece to use silicon escapement wheels, also turned heads with its unprecedented design, with no traditional dial, crown or hands. Instead, the watch and its movement were designed so that the movement itself, would rotate in a manner that could indicate the time. The watch has undergone many evolutions since then, including a version that was the first-ever watch to use Ulysse Nardin’s patented “DiamonSil” material, a type of diamond-coated silicon. New Equation of Time - Well I did It!
So, this was the quickest big decision I've ever made! Traded my RGGP + 2,500 for a brand new Equation of Time. It wears wonderfully, very light. I miss my grand prix, but think I'll eventually replace it with a 44mm RG. Thanks to all for the advice!
Omega po chrono or po non chrono...?
Looking to buy 1st omega watch, usually rolex. I'm drawn to the planet ocean as the watch looks great both chrono and non chrono. Couple of questions:1.Have read that problems have been reported with both chrono and non chrono, in particular the chrono version? Have these problems been addressed over time or do they still occur...?2.I know the updated version of both these watches are due in the uk around September I'm told? Are the new versions worth wait for those that saw them at Basel 2011...?
question about owners manual
where can I get the owners manual for a gmt ceramic
Ok opinions are gonna vary on this one lol!
Here we go again.... ive got a AP Forged Carbon 44mm and just cant get attached to it. Maybe ive got buyers remorse based on a rubber/plastic/ceramic watch for alot of $$$$ and cant personally see the justification in it too.Its not my first AP and i dont dislike it but its just not doing it for me. I tried to do a deal on a RG 44mm but we just couldnt come to an agreement that i could say was a worthwhile deal.....I am also paranoid about the reliability after the issues i had with my AP SafariSo ive been looking around and not for anything in particular and this was offered to me last night.... A solid gold YMII full set 116688I will have to tip in a bit to do the deal(not enough to phase me)Now i know the YMII is not the most popular model on the forums here but i do like them (i had a TT YMII previously) and i miss having a PM piece in my ownership (ive had a gold sub/yachtmaster 1 and a DD previously)whats your thoughts on this as a trade?again i figure this will be a mixed bag of
