RGM Pennsylvania Tourbillon MM 2 Watch
I wasn't sure what to expect when I first laid eyes on the movement for this RGM Pennsylvania Tourbillon watch (which I discussed here). Sure the final version isn't much different than the preview I saw a while ago, but seeing it all put together with case, text, hands, and finishing is really satisfying. I feel a nice level of price seeing this timepiece, knowing it is all American. It really doesn't have too much to do with the fact that "we can do it." If Americans needed to build a tourbillon watch a while ago, we would have. This isn't an achievement in technology or engineering. Rather, it is a signal of our American appreciation in fine watches. That we care enough about good looking, traditional watches to invest enough to make our own. That for me feels good, and a positive sign that Americans are taking timepieces seriously again. A lost appreciation (to a large degree), that is coming back, bit by bit.RGM? offers the Pennsylvania Tourbillon (made in Lancaster, Pennsylvania)
Omega OP: Should it be the next one.
I could use some opinions on my next purchase. I have been looking at the Omega OP (see image below) as my next purchase. I've never had one and never worn/tried one on. The orange has somehow placed me in a trance and I can't get away from the over-all appearance. I'm not wanting a daily wear time piece b/c i already have one love but I am looking to add an additional option for those rainy days. I could really use some good hard opinions from those who actually know about the watch. I plan on putting one on in the next few days from a local AD.
PAM 372 Strap
Hi, all.I am a first time poster looking for some info. I have wanted a Panerai since first seeing one in the 90's/early 2000's. I bought my first real watch 10 years ago, Rolex Sub, and am now ready to purchase another for my 40th b-day. I am drawn to the 112 and 372, but am leaning toward the 372. One thing is I really do not like the strap offered on the new models. I absolutely love the darker brown strap that was offered on the early models. Is it possible to still buy that strap from Panerai or do they only make them for the watch and discontinue after they move to a new strap offering. I do see that there are many after market straps that are awesome, but I would like to have the original from Panerai.I appreciate any response!
Strap recommendations for Pam 305
Hello all, I am looking for strap recommendations for the Pam 305.I know it looks FANTASTIC on rubber. But was looking for either leatheror canvas? Any thoughts or pics of straps on your 305 would help and be greatlyappreciated. Thank you in advance.
Truth in Rolex advertising
Here's a little something to steam Ed's tail (and also the rest of you GMT lovers). The following is a 1973 Rolex ad for the Red Sub 1680, supposedly featuring Thor Heyerdahl and his Ra II expedition. However, the guy in the photo with the sextant is not Thor, it's Capt. Norman Baker, Thor's navigator, and Norman wasn't given a Sub, he was given an engraved GMT 1675 (which he showed to me in March). What gives? Did they have Photoshop back in 1973?
