Watches NEWS
Here at last...
About a year or more ago, I was mooching around the various new and second hand dealers in the Bond Street area and C for the first time C I tried on a Patek Nautilus 5711 a watch that I'd admired from afar but never actually handled or worn myself. There was no doubt that the finish was exquisite, but for some reason I couldn't quite to get to grips with the case shape (or, rather, the hinged non-crown side). It did teach me one thing, if nothing else, though; sometimes, the only way you can appreciate the wonderful craftsmanship that goes into many of the higher-end watches is to actually pick them up, wear them and scrutinise them properly. I'm not saying that you'll then be able to see where the value is because we all know that luxury products don't work that way, but what I am saying is that photos alone will never do them justice. I mulled and mulled over the Nautilus, but deep down I knew it wasn't calling to me like it needed to. Around the time that I realised I wouldn't b
5711P is it worth??
Hey Guys,Was wondering if the new 5711P worth the high value (USD 95k)??!!. Do you guys think that this piece gonna be a piece to keep??.I understand its very heavy BUT its as shape as 5711/1A!! (Which is approx 25K).I've the classic SS version and was thinking to upgrade to the new Pt. So with the almost 72k difference, is it worth?.Appreciate your kind opinions.Have a great weekend all.Khalid
New Arrival - Blue 5711
I actually got the call from my AD in late December that a nautilus had come in - and a full 15 months earlier than their original estimate. Finally getting around to posting some pics. This has pretty much immediately become my favorite watch, though I plan to do an update in 6 months to revisit this statement.Anyway, I'm not sure what I can say that hasn't already been discussed at length on this forum - the dial is a beautiful blue that changes in different lighting, the bracelet is incredibly comfortable, and the thinness of the watch really makes it easy to wear. In my humble opinion, it's close to perfect.
Pulled the trigger on a 111
Thank you all for your help and counsel to a newbie in search of his 1st Panerai it has been very much appreciated. I spent some time at the AD last week trying on PAM's and I had decided on the 111 but the AD sells for MSRP no discount plus sales tax it was $7400 out the door. Its just not in me to pay retail for a watch. I scored a complete set never worn purchased new from AD Dec 2013 with an extra OEM panerai black strap of course the trade off is sacrificing the warrantee card in my name but the dollar savings makes it very palatable
Are we becoming rare?
It seems like most every where I go, I tend to look at watches in the wild. Why oh why do I just see the apple or fit bit style watches? And believe me, I live in a fairly upscale area in a northern suburb of DFW. Are most people wearing their luxury watches to the office only? I figured the goods would be out on the weekends, but I don't really see that here.
