Baselworld 2013: Tudor New Fastrider Black Shield Watch In Ceramic
Tudor has announced a new chronograph model?at Baselworld and it is called the Fastrider Black Shield. This new model expands the Fastrider line and features a matte black ceramic case and is part of the continuing relationship between Tudor and the motorcycle brand Ducati. With a brash red-on-matte-black style, the handsome Fastrider Black Shield certainly looks like a fitting companion?for any modern Ducati sport bike. The Fastrider Black Shield measures 42mm wide and its case is made from nearly scratch-proof injected ceramic. The case is a monobloc, meaning it is made from a single piece and not a series of pieces mounted to a sub-frame, this allows for?the entire case structure to be fashioned in ceramic. Tudor says this technical know-how is an extension of the knowledge they developed for the ceramic bezel used on their Pelagos diver.Update: After seeing the Black Shield in person, we can report that it's pretty great. The ceramic case is beautifully finished and carries a warmer
A LANGE S?HNE Saxonia Moon Phase
There's been a moon phase on the Saxonia watch by A. Lange & S?hne since 1994. This year, the German brand is adding a big date to the collection's starry display. It's a first! As the Saxony watchmaker's 16th movement to feature the moon phase, the self-winding L086.5 calibre takes centre stage for its precision and finish. Once it's been set properly, the display will only differ from the actual position of the Moon by one day every 122.6 years if the watch works non-stop thus providing a 99.998% accurate reproduction of the lunar cycles. A comfortable 70-hour power reserve allows the wearer to gaze at the disc as it rotates its 852 stars and the gold hands gliding over the solid silver dial. The performance takes place in a 40mm white or rose gold case. The watch also has a stop seconds mechanism for accurate time-setting. Price: 28,500 . Dan Diaconu
Omega Newb Assistance Please
Hi Folks,I'm normally in the Rolex Vintage Forum across the hall. I have an opportunity to pick up a really neat looking Seamaster 300 but would like some of you professionals to take a look at the dial for me. It appears to be a 1965ish model with a date, but aside from that it's a crap shoot otherwise. Any insight would be highly appreciated.Pete
Great pics of the 5711/1R
