Sotheby’s Collector Timepieces in Geneva
On May 10 at Geneva’s Beau-Rivage Hotel, Sotheby’s will offer vintage and modern collectible timepieces including Patek Philippe Refs. 5959P and 2499 (fourth series), and a historically important gold, enamel and diamond presentation pocket watch most likely made for King Ludwig II of Bavaria circa 1880.
Been bitten by the AP bug...
Ok guys, I've recently seen the Diver in person and am kind of hooked. I'm surprised; I have rather small wrists and am not into larger watches but the diver... my god I don't know what it was...Anyway, I'm thinking about selling my Rolex Hulk (don't tell the guys on the Rolex boards ) and putting the money toward a white Diver.Maybe this infatuation will wear off, I don't know. But for now I'd like some more knowledge about the quality and service of AP as I've never owned one before:1. How robust is the movement? I like my watches to be able to take anything I throw at them and have heard good things about AP but how do they compare movement-wise to a Rolex or even Omega calibre?2. How are service costs? I've heard horrid things about AP service, and don't know how true they are. If anybody has any stories regarding service experience and cost I would love to hear them.3. What kind of price should I be looking at paying? If buying at an AD, can I expect any possible discount on the w
5711 - Clasp
I recently picked up another 5711 which I have worn a couple of times. From day 1 the bracelet link below the clasp edge has started to mark - I noticed this almost immediately. It appears that because the clasp fitting has some play in it when the watch is worn and moves on the wrist it scratches the edges of the bracelet link directly below it.As per the pics attached. I have other nautilus models and have never know this to be such a major issue before (albeit I do have a few marks on the same link). I know the clasp is a bit flawed but didn't realise it would start damaging the bracelet from day 1.

Some pics of the 5712r and 5980r. Both are beautiful watches with a lot of presence. I had never seen the 5712r before and I think it is a truly lovely piece. I like the heft and pushers of the 5980 but prefer the dial of the 5712, a very tough choice.
The famous laser logo
I just put together a few pics of it.Click here to find out
