Open the hatch, I'm going out...
Whilst I considered my beautiful Speedmaster professional ST145.022 to be as close to a keeper as I'm ever likely to have, of late I've been suffering increasingly lustful feelings brought on by photos of the Ed White 105.003 and sure enough I gave in to temptation when an absolute gem popped up on TZ. It meant letting a friend have his old watch back (well, he had been hinting for some time, if truth be told) but I have no doubt whatsoever that I made the right decision. I like to post a bit of background when I have an incoming, so true to form I'll do so again in this case. It was in June 1965 that Edward H White II - a member of the Gemini 4 spacecraft crew C opened the hatch and embarked on a 22 minute spacewalk with an Omega Speedmaster mounted on a NASA velcro strap adorning the outside of his spacesuit. The funny thing is, Omega themselves weren't even aware that this amazing piece of horological history was going to be created, and it was only after the read the Life Magaz
Patek Salon in Shanghai
Wuz so looking forward to visiting (for the first time) as it's the only place in Shanghai that showcase PP. What disappointment - when we arrived, the security guy was very rude and shouting at people taking photos outside the building, no a/c inside and sweating my ass off, collection so small not a single Nautilus or grand complication to view and their is no service level at all. Goodness...what a difference compared to the salon in Geneva. No wonder all the mainlanders are flocking to CH and HK to buy.
Visit to PP at Tiffany's yesterday-Calatrava question
I was in NYC the last few days and made to Tiffany's to check out the PP flagship. What a beautiful store, with multiple museum pieces on display.Sorry, no pics. It was not appropriate at the time.I was surprised when I was told the Calatrava was in very short supply in the US, all models. Can't get inventory. Was curious if this was situational to Tiffany's location, or true across the US.Not in the market myself, but it was clear they were really frustrated by having to say no to customers regarding that model. The quote was, We question their business model by not making the most popular edition available in the US. Couldn't try one on there or at Wempe. Thought it worth asking if this was the norm. Thank you.
Happy Saturday, finally time to...

OK, Ive decided on my Grail.
This was an important decision in my life. After all, if we don't have dreams... what do we have? Right? Now, I LOVE my DJ 41 (Picture below). It really is everything I expected and wanted in my next Rolex. Elegant, classy, definitely attractive but not ostentatious, it has gotten more comments from both WIS and non-WIS alike then my sports models ever did; (GMT, EXP II). To me, it is the quintessential Rolex, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. BUT... like everything else in life (at least mine) as soon as I got it I wanted something better. I bought a Ford then wanted a Lincoln, I bought a Tumi bag then wanted a Gucci, I buy a DJ 41 immediately I start lusting for a PM model; ... ... I'm a sick man . So, I set off on a quest... which model Rolex do I set my sights on? PM for sure but Gold or Platinum? Sports model or Dress? I mean, these are important decisions right!??!?!?? I spent hours, toiling through the Rolex website, spoke with my fellow TRFers and
