Bring a Loupe: A Killer Vintage AP Chronograph In Pink Gold, A Heuer Monaco "Dark Lord," A
In this week's Bring A Loupe, we've got a wide range of incredibly rare vintage pieces – some of which are offered by dealers that are, more or less, "off the grid," but that I've encountered in my travels – and rare and special contemporary pieces from modern favorites Journe and Lange. Further, if you've been hunting a rare vintage chronograph, boy do we have some options for you today – think an Hermes-signed Universal, a mythical Heuer "Dark Lord," and a 1930's AP chrono in pink gold. This is your Bring A Loupe for May 22, 2015. Heuer Monaco "Dark Lord" PVD 1 OF 10 The indisputable king of the vintage Heuer world is the Heuer Monaco "Dark Lord," or, in other words, reference 740303 N – a manually wound, PVD-coated Monaco made for just one year (1974) in very few examples. Not only is this Monaco one of the rarest watches made by Heuer, it is also one of the very first to feature
My Omega Dynamic
Hi everyone!I am new to this forum, please be gentle with me!I just started to get into watches this year, both my parents own Rolex and one or two others.I got my first automatic watch earlier this year, which is an Oris Big Crown. That really got me interested and recently I have picked up new-old-stock Omega Dynamic, which I totally love!I would like to know more about the Dynamic, such as it's history and what kind of movement it uses (mine is a lady automatic), etc.Thank you for reading this I look forward to hear from you
Datejust 116233 against 126233
Hello guys,What do you think about the new Datejust generation? I cannot distinguish great differences between the last two generations. I believe the gap between 162XX and 116XX was much larger. Could it be that now it is principally a marketing operation? Check out the dial options! More diamond dials than common dials are offered. Does Rolex want to push the DJ upwards on the market? I read the description of the Jubil bracelet, it's contradictory, they talk about one 5mm extension link but at the same time about a concealed clasp.
Tudor-Basel 2018
And so it begins. Sorry if this has already been posted. Anyone have any predictions? I am going with the in house Ranger (Ranger II) a new BB bezel color. (Because Tudor can go thru Basel without a new BB) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
14060 just back from Rolex NY
A few years ago I posted a story about a 14060 Submariner that I had bought for my father for his 60th birthday in 2002. My father passed away tragically in 2015 and I received the watch back. My father had not done a thing to the watch in 13 years. I have had it ever since and only wore it sparingly. I knew it needed a service and the hands had luminous material flaking off.I sent the watch to Rolex via Registered mail (took a week from MA to NY) right before the holidays, and it sat for a week while Rolex was closed for the holidays. I had called Rolex to check on the status and to ask for another link etc. I was told that they were behind and plan on about 4 weeks.Tuesday I received a call from Rolex that the watch was ready and would ship overnight on Wednesday for Thursday delivery. I was thrilled. The watch arrived a few minutes ago from Fedex....and today happens to be my father's birthday, so it was exactly 16 years ago to the day that I presented the Submariner to him.Th
