Antiquorum Offers Important Rolex GMT-Master with Bathyscaph Trieste Connection
On Wednesday evening December 8, Antiquorum will offer 365 modern and vintage timepieces at its Manhattan headquarters, including a historically significant Rolex GMT-Master that belonged to Lt. Don Walsh who, along with Jacques Piccard, piloted the bathyscaphe Trieste to the deepest point in the world’s oceans. This important Rolex GMT-Master, ref. 6542, belonged to U.S. Navy Lieutenant Don Walsh, the Officer-in-Charge of the Navy’s Bathyscaph Trieste. Lieutenant Walsh and Jacques Piccard piloted the Bathyscaph Trieste to the deepest place in the world’s oceans: the Challenger Deep in the Marianas Trench, 200 miles southwest of Guam. The Trieste descended to a depth of 35,800 feet. Subsequent to the dive, in April 1960, Rolex gifted Lieutenant Walsh a Rolex GMT- Master. Also in recognition of his achievement, Lieutenant Walsh was awarded the Legion of Merit, the Navy’s second highest non-combat medal, by President Eisenhower at a ceremony held at The White Hous

I am presently bidding on this watch...Can anyone tell me anything about it and whether it appears to be authentic based on photos and description? Seamaster GMT (2234.50) is on its way . . .
Ever since I acquired my 36mm Railmaster, I've been thinking about obtaining another Omega. After much consideration and research, I decided so seek out a Seamaster 300M GMT (2234.50) with the 1128 movement. I got a great deal on a brand new one from an out-of-state AD (save sales tax ) and it will be next Wednesday. The AD told me that the 2234.50 and others are being discontinued. Is that correct? Is Omega going to settle on the blue dial Bond GMT (which I don't care for)? Or, are they going to come out with a GMT built around the 8500 movement . . . that should be pricey. Hey, how about a few wrist shots of the Seamaster 300M GMT (black dial) in action.

Something special that keeps a low profile...something what you can wear whereever whenevere�� Enough descreet if you meet clients or potential clients.For sure the 5711 was the trigger for my insight that high-end watches could be in ordinary steel too. First for a considerable time I lust for the regularly 5950 with the silvery white opaline dial. But there were doubts, because I am a sucker for dark dials. Then at Baselworld 2015 a limited black dial version was luckily introduced.What could be more descreet than a ordinary stainless steel chrono with dark dial?A grand complication in steel with black dial as slim as possible based on a extra slim movement is...UnderstatedDescreetJust beautifulI thought this will be my exit watch if I am able to get one, but it's not!
