Voutilainen GMR Watch For 2015
One of my favorite independent watch makers, Mr. Kari Voutilainen, is coming out with at least one new watch this year, and it is the beautiful new Voutilainen GMR as a limited edition of just 12 pieces. The Voutilainen GMR (I believe it is named as such because it combines a GMT function with a power reserve indicator) is a gorgeous addition to the Voutilainen family, combining welcome and familiar aesthetics with a new dark dial which just hints at sportiness. The Voutilainen GMR more-or-less takes the Voutilainen GMT-6 (hands-on here) and adds a power reserve indicator while changing up the GMT indicator a bit. What makes the Voutilainen GMR so useful is that it both allows the wearer to know when to wind the watch, as well as offering a second time zone via the GMT hand. The hands of each are hand-made and here colored red (which is part of that slightly sporty look in the watch that I referenced above). The Voutilainen GMR watch dial is produced from solid silver which has been hand

New Arrival - PAM00425 S.L.C.
It's good to have a Panerai back in the fold This one's been on my radar for a while but at 47mm I thought it would be far too big for my 6.75 wrist I tried it on yesterday in my local AD and well, how wrong was I! Yes it's big but because my wrist is flat, the wired lugs sit well within the edges of my wrist, so for me that's perfectly acceptable. The watch is just amazing! It's just what I want in a Panerai - big, simple dial, in-house manual wind movement and of course those fabulous gold hands. And yes I like the Pig!! I've had a 111 before and we had a bit of a love/hate relationship. Sometimes it would be on my wrist for a couple of weeks, other times it would'nt last a couple of hours. I think it was the hands I couldn't get on with, at least they'll be no problem with the 425, gold hands rock It's been a busy and expensive last few weeks and with the watch fund completely depleted they'll be no more in-comings for a long while. But I can honestly say I'm very happy with where t
What are Panerai SHADOW case watches???
Since I noticed that some expert Paneristis didn't know what where Panerai shadow case watches I thought helpful to put the description I found:It became Panerai practice not to create a prototype series that were numbered. Although the Panerai family did number their prototypes, the Panerai company changed this practice when Richemont took over the family company. In the first couple of years under new ownership, the company would create a new model (most were similar to pre vendome models) and make a handful of these watches. It is said that 4 to 12 pieces of a new model were made. These pieces were shown at new product development meetings. They were given to executives within the company, one of the few authorized dealers or important collectors. These Shadow models did not have a Series number inscribed on the back. Regular production model watches have three lines of serial numbers engraved on the case back of locking crown models, and in the corners of the radiomir case watches.
